A Florida man accused of tying his dog to a fence and abandoning it as Hurricane Milton approached the state is now charged with aggravated animal cruelty, authorities announced Tuesday. “In Hillsborough County, we take animal cruelty very seriously,” Lopez said in the statement. A man fell to his death after he was stunned by a Utah state trooper Sunday, the Utah Department of Public Safety said. The Utah Highway Patrol received reports just after 8 p.m. of a man running through traffic on Interstate 15 in Salt Lake City, Utah DPS said in a news release. Citrus County: Beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, residents in any structure incapable of withstanding 110 mph winds will be under a mandatory evacuation order, the sheriff’s office said. That includes campers, tents, mobile homes and manufactured homes. A mandatory evacuation order for zones A and B is set to begin at 6 a.m. Tuesday. Glades County: A voluntary evacuation order will begin Tuesday at 1 p.m. for residents in mobile homes, RVs and low-lying areas. New York CNN —Gas stations in many areas of Florida are running out of gasoline, as residents prepare for Hurricane Milton. Gas price tracking service GasBuddy reported that as of Tuesday morning, 14.5% of gas stations statewide were without fuel, a dramatic spike from just 3% on Monday. DeSantis said 27 fuel trucks were escorted by the Florida Highway Patrol to deliver fuel to stations in the anticipated impact area of the storm. “We have been dispatching fuel over the past 24 hours as gas stations have run out,” he said at a press conference early Tuesday. And the real fear is that the hurricane and storm surge could cause significant damage to the port.

A shelter-in-place advisory has been extended for an entire Georgia county Monday after chlorine was detected in the air, emitting from a chemical lab where there was a fire the day before. A chemical fire ignited on the roof of the BioLab plant in Conyers, Rockdale County at 5 a.m. Sunday after a sprinkler head malfunctioned “causing a mixture with a water-reactive chemical,” Rockdale County Fire Chief Marian McDaniel said. Rockdale County extended the shelter-in-place recommendation for residents in an early Monday morning update. Officials did not confirm the chemical involved in the release Sunday, but the county said air quality surveys conducted by the Environmental Protection Division and the Environmental Protection Agency detected chlorine in the air coming from the lab. The county also announced that all government facilities will be closed Monday, and advised businesses to close operations until the shelter-in-place is lifted.
