Barack Obama was elected president, and the mood in the Republican Party picked up on the mood you’ve already described. But in the end, what he did electorally was not in that election to build the pan ethnic working class Republican Party. But at the very least, there was the conventional wisdom was that the Republican Party had to move substantially to the left on immigration. I just think that if the Republican Party is not the party of private property and wealth building, so I don’t think. Is there any chance that the Republican Party is about to not be the party of private property and wealth building No, no, I think you’re right.

It was Combs’ third attempt before a federal judge to seek bail after two other judges found there were no conditions that alleviated concerns Combs was engaging in alleged witness tampering and posed a danger to women. Slavik claimed Combs violated the judge’s order limiting public statements and said Combs admitted it in one message. Earlier this year, CNN acquired and published surveillance footage depicting several different angles of the assault, which were edited together to help more clearly illustrate the incident. Slavik said prosecutors provided Combs’ team with cell phone video of the same assault that is captured on the hotel surveillance video. That was not edited.”Slavik said the government does not have the original surveillance video.

My wife and I built a slab for our RV on my son's property to be near family when we want. CNN —President-elect Donald Trump is expected to offer Kelly Loeffler the job of secretary of the Department of Agriculture, two people familiar with the matter told CNN. He is set to meet with her at Mar-a-Lago Friday afternoon, but as is always the case, nothing is final until Trump announces it. The agriculture job will likely be a significant one — especially as Trump’s pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has promised to assert his influence over the agriculture industry. Loeffler, appointed to the Senate by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp over the wishes of Trump, lost her seat in a 2021 runoff to Democratic now-Sen. Raphael Warnock.

Colin Gray, the father of alleged Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges related to the mass shooting in September at Apalachee High School that killed four people. Attorneys for Colin Gray appeared in court Thursday morning and entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Barrow County District Attorney Brad Smith said Colin Gray’s charges marked the first time in state history that a parent of a suspect in a school shooting was charged. His son was indicted separately on 55 counts, including four counts of malice murder and four counts of felony murder, in the Sept. 4 shooting at the Winder high school. The younger Gray, who was charged as an adult, waived his formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty in October, court records show.

“People are afraid of walking the streets right now; there’s a lot of fear … a lot of fear,” Sanchez said. “Shrinking worker (supply) in a period in which those sectors need more workers and are having a hard time finding workers will clearly generate a slowdown,” Peri said. Although temporary farm visas — known as H-2A — do exist, there is no legal way to have year-round foreign workers. “We know [undocumented immigrants] are working, they’re not sitting at home,” he said. “The slowing in immigration that’s broadly anticipated will probably show up in tighter labor markets for lower-skilled workers,” he said in an interview.

A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted Phillips 66 on charges of violating the Clean Water Act by dumping nearly 800,000 gallons of contaminated wastewater into the Los Angeles County sewer system and failing to report the incident to authorities. The Houston-based oil company was charged with releasing wastewater that contained excessive amounts of oil and grease from a refinery in Carson, Calif., in 2020 and 2021, the Justice Department said Thursday. “Protecting our environment is key to protecting our community,” Martin Estrada, the U.S. attorney for the Central District of California, said in a statement. “Just like the rest of us, corporations have a duty to follow the law, so when companies contaminate, they must be held accountable.”The Justice Department charged Phillips 66 with two counts of negligently violating the Clean Water Act and four counts of knowingly violating the act. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. AP —The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday overturned actor Jussie Smollett’s conviction on charges that he staged a racist and homophobic attack against himself in downtown Chicago in 2019 and lied to police. Emailed messages seeking comment were sent Thursday to Foxx’s office and to Smollett’s attorney, who have argued that Smollett has been victimized by a racist and politicized justice system. Testimony at his trial indicated Smollett paid $3,500 to two men whom he knew from “Empire” to carry out the attack. A state appellate court ruling upheld Smollett’s conviction, declaring that no one promised Smollett he wouldn’t face a fresh prosecution after accepting the original deal. Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis and Justice Joy Cunningham took no part in Thursday’s decision.

Tucked away in the frigid northern corner of Siberia are giant craters, some deep enough to fit a 15-story building. It's been fairly clear from the beginning that the craters are caused by some type of explosion deep underground. Researchers widely agreed that when these hydrates are damaged, they release methane gas, which is what's triggering the explosions in Siberia. AdvertisementMore exploding craters to comeSiberia will likely have more explosive craters in the coming years as global temperatures continue to warm. Donald Trump's attorneys are demanding the judge who presided over his New York hush money trial and conviction immediately throw out the case, saying it would be "uniquely destabilizing to the country" otherwise. The letter also cited presidential immunity as a reason to dismiss the case, and maintained Trump is already protected by it. "Just as a sitting President is completely immune from any criminal process, so too is President Trump as President-elect," the letter said. The attorneys have argued he can't be sentenced while in office because it would interfere with his constitutional duties. Trump was convicted earlier this year on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment made to adult film actor Stormy Daniels.
