Kim finished with 241.3 points, falling 1.9 points short of Oh, but she remembers it as “a very happy moment. Since Kim took up shooting, South Korea has seen several heroes in the sport, such as Jin Jong-oh, who won four golds and two silvers across five Olympics, and Kim Jang-mi, who won a gold at the 2012 London Olympics. At the Paris Olympics, South Korea won the most shooting medals at the Games in the country’s history with three golds and three silvers. “Just wait, mommy will win the gold,” Kim promised.

This article is part of the Opinion series At the Brink, about the threat of nuclear weapons in an unstable world. It follows a decades-long freeze on designing, building or testing new nuclear weapons. The new buildings and cutting-edge machinery will eventually process the uranium needed to make the next generation of American nuclear weapons. Now there are an estimated 12,000 nuclear weapons in the world. It is undeniably true that the world is becoming more contentious, and nuclear weapons do deter our adversaries.

It's harder to answer questions or solve problems when you're asked to choose between more than four solutions, research shows. Neuroscientist Paul Glimcher has a simple strategy to cut through the noise and consistently make smart decisions: Instead of trying to pick the best choice, start by picking the worst. Process of elimination isn't exactly a new concept — you might have learned about it in elementary school — but it can help you avoid mistakes and improve your accuracy making everyday decisions, Glimcher said. "We're just good at the binary choice task — pick your best and eliminate your worst," Glimcher added. That's because picking from fewer options can help us make more accurate decisions, said Glimcher.

Lan Sak, Thailand AP —Mourners wept and monks prayed at a cremation ceremony Tuesday in a small town in central Thailand for 23 young students and teachers who died in last week’s bus fire on a school field trip. A large cremation site was set up close to the temple in Lan Sak town whose compound hosts the school that was attended by the victims. Six teachers and 39 elementary and junior high school students were on the bus when it caught fire on October 1 on a highway in Pathum Thani, a northern suburb of Bangkok. Transport officials were being scrutinized after information emerged that the bus had passed an inspection about four months before the fire. Police believe that a gas tube from one of the canisters had come loose, with sparks then setting the leaking gas on fire.

When I started my job, I struggled to connect with my coworkers and hid behind my desk. A therapist told me to find common ground with my coworkers; I learned we shared a love of music. It was hard to maintain those new friendships when I left the company, but I'm working on it. At work, I wanted to talk to people and make friendships with coworkers in the office. Luckily, my colleagues invited me to a work happy hour a week after my time at the company ended.

The mass attack at Winder’s Apalachee High School was at least the year’s 45th school shooting in America. It typically gets 500 in a year, according to an academic study that claims it’s one of the first to quantify more than 1,000 threats of school violence over four academic years. Emily Elconin/Getty ImagesNo agency or group tracks all threats of US school violence, from possible gun attacks to bombings to any other conceivable danger. Atlanta Public Schools hadn’t warned caregivers so broadly of possible danger like this in at least a year, he said. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office sent 11 motor and K-9 units to help that day, it later told CNN; the Atlanta Police Department deferred CNN’s questions to Atlanta Public Schools.

A Pennsylvania middle school installed a window in its gender-inclusive restroom, making its interior visible from the school hallway. The window was constructed at Emory H. Markle Middle School in Hanover, Pennsylvania, which is roughly 5 miles north of the Maryland border. Gender-inclusive bathrooms are commonly used by transgender and nonbinary people for privacy and safety reasons. The window installation raised concerns among some of the students’ parents, who said windows were not added to the school’s single-sex multiuser restrooms. “I can understand needing to have supervision over middle and high school students, especially in the bathrooms.

Key lines from the Vance-Walz vice presidential debate

Here are key lines from the debate, which was hosted by CBS News in New York City on Tuesday. Vance said many of the things Trump says, but he did it with a control that Trump lacks. The only answer is during the four years that Donald Trump was president. We have a historic immigration crisis because Kamala Harris started and said that she wanted to undo all of Donald Trump’s border policies. We could come together and solve this if we didn’t let Donald Trump continue to make it an issue.

The second moon that Earth has captured in its orbit this month is an asteroid called 2024 PT5. Mini-moons like this could be ideal targets for asteroid mining to send humans deeper into space. Space mining could be huge, since some asteroids are worth more than our entire global economy. Some startups are trying to figure out how to start mining space rocks, and do it in a cost-effective way. "Either if you are thinking about collecting mineral samples for research or starting a space mining venture, mini-moons are your best bet to get your business off the ground," he said.

Books, Miller said, are “windows and mirrors,” a concept introduced by famed children’s literature professor Rudine Sims Bishop.

Jones’ personal social media sites, including his account on the social platform X, which has 2.8 million followers, would not be included. Murray also is expected to sell many of Jones’ personal assets. The Sandy Hook families who won the Connecticut lawsuit want Jones to lose his personal social media accounts. It’s unclear how much money would be raised by selling Infowars and Jones’ assets, and how much money the Sandy Hook families would get. If the debt is found to be valid, that could reduce any amount the Sandy Hook families ultimately get from the liquidations.

The existence of the videos was first reported last week by the blog Str8 Up Gay Porn, which shares gay porn and articles about sex. Anyone can place a bid for Infowars, including its dubious dietary supplement store, and use the property for any reason. Nothing would prevent him from continuing to broadcast under a new owner, although he would still need to pay off the debt he owes the Sandy Hook families with any earnings he may receive. There’s also nothing stopping Jones from continuing to speak about the Sandy Hook massacre or the families. The only way Jones would be prevented from speaking about Sandy Hook entirely is through a separate settlement with the families. But even if all of Jones’ personal intellectual property is sold off along with Infowars, it’s unlikely to make more than a small dent in the amount he owes the Sandy Hook families.
