Workers are struggling to get a handle on their jobs, and this failure falls on everyone — companies, managers, human-resources departments, and, in some cases, the workers themselves. The chaos has left employers, managers, and employees wondering just how much time and money it's worth investing in training in the first place. It's tough to learn by osmosis over Slack, and the deluge of HR apps and training modules isn't filling in the gaps. As workers and managers are increasingly overextended, these types of unmeasured, softer activities can fall by the wayside. Gavin emphasized that it's not just on companies and managers to make sure employees are learning and getting onboarded but also on individual workers.

It all started with a summer project when he was 12 and "super into the game Minecraft," Guo tells CNBC Make It. He recently moved from Southern California to Bali, Indonesia, where he splits a villa with friends and spends his free time surfing. The expense is well worth it for high-quality food, Guo says: "One of the best parts about Bali is how clean and healthy the food is. "Most of my expenses go towards food, but if I do spend money, it's typically towards gifts for family or my girlfriend." As far as what he doesn't spend on, "I absolutely refuse to spend money on things that depreciate in value," like luxury goods, Guo says.

“As a Palestinian, I think it doesn’t matter,” said Riyad Awad, 61, in the central West Bank city of Ramallah on Wednesday. Some expressed deep concern over Trump’s victory, while others were curious about whether he might ultimately be the right figure to stop the fighting after months of failed U.S. efforts. “He said that he’s going to end the war,” said 19-year-old Hussam Alsharif, who was displaced from his home farther south in Gaza by Israel’s offensive. He has praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and incorrectly blamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for starting the war, while refusing to commit to sending more aid to the embattled country. CNN —A series of Israeli raids and airstrikes in towns and villages in the occupied West Bank that stretched overnight from Monday into late Tuesday have killed at least eight people, according to Palestinian authorities and local residents. Two Palestinians were killed in the town of Tamoun, said the governor of nearby Tubas, Ahmad Assad, alleging that one of the bodies was removed from the scene by the Israeli military with a bulldozer. Two were killed by Israeli gunfire, and two others killed when an Israeli military vehicle rammed a car and opened fire, according to residents and video seen by CNN. Israel has previously described its stepped-up military offensives in the West Bank as targeting militants and “terrorist infrastructure.”The bloodshed comes as violence surges in the West Bank, where the Israeli military has intensified incursions following the Hamas-led October 7 attacks. Since October 7, 2023, Israeli troops and settlers have killed at least 775 Palestinians, including 167 children, in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, the Palestinian health ministry reported on Tuesday.
