CNN —Gazing out from a 15th-century balcony overlooking Venice’s Grand Canal, actor Anya Taylor-Joy gave the world a first glimpse of her wedding dress this weekend — and it was far from expected. In lieu of a traditional ivory frock, Taylor-Joy opted for a blush-toned princess gown. Anya Taylor-Joy's custom Dior gown was a dusty rose color, decorated with intricate embroidered flowers and even a hummingbird. Cobra Team/Splash News/BACKGRIDPerhaps the least surprising element of the ethereally romantic gown was its label: custom Dior. Taylor-Joy wore a very different, leather-heavy Dior look for the brand's Spring-Summer 2024 show in Paris last week.

There's also SunnyD Vodka Seltzer, made by Harvest Hill Beverage Company and on shelves since March, as well as Hard Mountain Dew, which is made by PepsiCo and the Boston Beer Company. Harvest Hill, which makes SunnyD Vodka Seltzer, pointed to the words "Vodka" and "contains alcohol" on its packaging for the beverage. Drinks like Hard Mountain Dew and SunnyD Vodka Seltzer have drawn criticism from consumer advocacy groups and public health experts for years. Sugary and fruity alcoholic beverages, such as White Claw hard seltzer, began to gain popularity at the end of the last decade. Besides potentially causing confusion, the beverages' sweet tastes make it easy to down one — or several — compared to traditional alcoholic beverages like beer.

A video from 2018 of electrical explosions in Louisiana is being shared online as footage showing a “direct energy attack”. People have claimed online that June 2023 wildfires in Canada, and August fires in Hawaii were caused by direct energy weapons. In another instance, social media users claimed a 2018 video of electrical explosions in Louisiana was evidence of DEWs in use in Hawaii (see Facebook users here), (here) and users on X, formerly known as Twitter, (here) (here). American price elasticity stretched to the limit

WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters Breakingviews) - The United States may be over the hump on inflation, but consumers aren’t acting like it. Lingering restraint will stretch the power of price elasticity to its limits. Similarly, PepsiCo’s (PEP.O) 14% increase in North American prices of Mountain Dew, Tropicana orange juice and other beverages cost it 4% in quarterly sales. Strong appetites for Oreos and Wheat Thins lifted Mondelez International’s (MDLZ.O) sales 2% in the United States, Canada and Mexico, even as prices climbed 10%. They have climbed 3.5% from a year earlier, surpassing the 3.2% annual increase in the Consumer Price Index.

Although full-calorie options still dominate the soda segment, diet sodas now represent more than a quarter of sales. Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Pepsi Zero Sugar and Diet Mountain Dew all contain aspartame. For most adults, that means drinking less than nine to 14 cans of diet soda every day. Even so, Edward Jones analyst Brittany Quatrochi said she isn't expecting a big hit to diet soda sales. Besides diet sodas, aspartame can also be found in a variety of foods, including breakfast cereals, chewing gum and ice cream.

For this new flavor, called Coca-Cola Ultimate, the soda maker partnered with Riot Games, which publishes the multi-player online battle arena game League of Legends. Coca-Cola Ultimate bottles. As in most of those cases (Marshmello’s flavor had notes of strawberry and watermelon) Coca-Cola won’t share what Ultimate is actually supposed to taste like. Sweetgreen's chipotle chicken burrito bowl is the subject of a lawsuit filed Tuesday by Chipotle. The Mexican chain's complaint centers on the "chipotle-chicken burrito bowl," which Sweetgreen added to its menu last month. Chipotle's issue isn't that Sweetgreen used the word "chipotle" alone, the company said in a complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Southern California. One example cited in the complaint shows a sign that Sweetgreen uses to promote the burrito bowl. A portion of Chipotle's complaint against Sweetgreen shows a Sweetgreen sign promoting the chipotle-chicken burrito bowl, with the word "chipotle" in all-caps and against a red background.
