CNN —Following an investigation, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the suspension of New York Yankees pitcher Jimmy Cordero for the remainder of the 2023 season, including any postseason games, for violating the league’s Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. MLB said Cordero accepted the suspension and the immediate placement on the league’s restricted list. “There is no justification for domestic violence, and we stand with the objectives, standards and enforcement of MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy,” a team statement read Wednesday. The right handed reliever has appeared in 31 games for the Yankees this season. CNN —Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended for 25 games without pay by the NBA for “conduct detrimental to the league,” the NBA announced Friday. The NBA had suspended Morant for eight games without pay in March after he was seen in another Instagram Live video holding a gun at a nightclub in Glendale, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. The league said Morant’s unpaid suspension runs through the first 25 games of the upcoming 2023-24 regular season. He will not be allowed to take part in any “public” team activities, including preseason games, until the suspension is lifted. An internal investigation by attorney Beth Wilkinson last year resulted in the NFL fining the Commanders $10 million and Snyder handing control of the franchise’s daily operations to his wife. But the NFL declined to publicly release its findings, sparking the House Oversight Committee’s review in October. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy issued a statement on Thursday afternoon in response to the report’s findings, saying it did not impede the investigation.

The statement by Isaiah Meyer-Crothers acknowledged that Miller had repeatedly reached out to him last month by text and social media platforms. But Meyer-Crothers’ account contradicted Miller’s agent, who said the hockey player had received Meyer-Crothers’ “blessing” and support before signing the now-rescinded contract. CNN —DC Attorney General Karl Racine announced a lawsuit against embattled Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder, the team and the NFL on Thursday, alleging they colluded to deceive DC residents about an NFL investigation into the team’s toxic workplace culture and allegations of sexual assault. The lawsuit cites the District of Columbia’s Consumer Protection Procedures Act, which gives the Attorney General broad authority to hold individuals or a company accountable for misleading customers. At the same time, Snyder and the team tried to interfere with and obstruct the investigation, the lawsuit states. The Attorney General said the penalties could run into the millions of dollars. Robinson’s agent Ryan Williams tweeted his displeasure with the Commanders’ statement on Wednesday night.

CNN —A sports psychologist, who was under contract with the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, has filed a civil lawsuit against the organization and 19-year-old former Spurs player Joshua Primo. The psychologist alleges the player exposed himself to her during therapy sessions and claimed the organization’s leadership failed to act despite her “numerous complaints about Primo’s improper sexual conduct,” according to a court filing. The Spurs legal team then told Cauthen, a licensed, credentialed clinical psychologist, that the team “had lost trust in her,” Cauthen’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, said during a press conference Thursday. “I would also say that the Spurs conduct and the way they handled this matter was egregious and absolutely unreasonable.”Primo was recently released from the team on October 28. CNN has reached out to the Spurs organization and the NBA for comment.
