In response, the company had announced plans to sell its fitness equipment on e-commerce giant Amazon.com (AMZN.O) and at Dick's Sporting Goods Inc (DKS.N) stores. Peloton CEO Barry McCarthy, in a letter to investors, outlined goals of returning to revenue growth and reach cash flow breakeven on a sustained basis in his second year in the role. For the third quarter, Peloton forecast revenue between $690 million and $715 million, above expectations of $689.1 million, as per Refinitiv data. Cash burn fell to $94.4 million from $546.7 million.
Hoka, which started in 2009 in France as a running shoe for hardcore marathoners, is growing rapidly with casual runners, hikers and weightlifters. “There wasn’t anyone doing what Hoka was doing.”But Hoka carved out a niche in specialty running shops. Analysts are projecting a near 11% jump in quarterly sales as a bounce in its U.S. business may help overcome weakness in the China market. "While retailers were initially worried about the amount of Nike inventory being shipped, the consumer is showing up and buying the Nike brand," Credit Suisse analyst Michael Binetti wrote in a note on Friday. "Most retailers have been worryingly low on Nike inventory for 2 years and are just happy to have enough to drive their apparel & footwear categories at this point," Binetti said. CNN —D.H. Peligro, a drummer for punk rock icons the Dead Kennedys and formerly the Red Hot Chili Peppers, died Friday from a head injury, his band announced. “Police on the scene stated that he died from trauma to the head caused by an accidental fall,” a statement from the Dead Kennedys read. He was a drummer for punk rock legends the Dead Kennedys until the band’s breakup in 1986, after which he joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers for some time, CNN affiliate KARE reported. His passion for punk rock and funky music continued with his new band, Peligro, which featured him as a singer and guitarist. Other fellow bandmates and friends, including Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, have also taken to social media with tributes to Peligro.
Peloton races tough economic cycle

TORONTO, Oct 6 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Peloton Interactive (PTON.O) is pedaling as fast as it can. The maker of connected bikes plans to cut 500 more jobs, or about 12% of its workforce, according to the Wall Street Journal. And even though McCarthy has steadily trimmed the cash burn, free cash flow was a hefty negative $412 million in the three months to June 30. Peloton, whose market value has plummeted 90% in a year, is coming precariously close to the end of a wild ride. New York CNN Business —Peloton is undergoing another round of layoffs — its fourth this year — with about 500 jobs being eliminated, as the troubled exercise company looks to cut costs to improve its bottom line. The company announced in August that it was closing a substantial amount of its 86 retail stores in North America. “Together, we have dramatically restructured Peloton’s business. He announced layoffs of 800 employees in early August to “become more efficient, cost effective, and agile.” Other changes outsourcing delivery — which is currently done by Peloton employees — and customer service to third parties.
