WBD filed the lawsuit against the NBA in July after the league signed new broadcast rights deals with Disney, Amazon and NBC collectively worth $76 billion. WBD will also receive the rights to broadcast live NBA games in northern Europe and Latin America for the next 11 years, the person said. WBD is also expected to announce it has signed a multi-year licensing deal with Disney, the person familiar with the matter said. Under the agreement, “Inside the NBA” will air exclusively on ESPN and ABC starting next season. WBD also plans to develop a sports spin-off of the “Inside the NBA” program, they said.

The FBI on Friday said reports of racist and offensive text messages sent from anonymous phone numbers are now being sent to members of Latino and LGBTQ communities. The FBI is investigating previous reports of dozens of racist texts sent to Black Americans telling them they have been “selected" to pick cotton "at the nearest plantation" immediately following last week's election. The initial reports of racist texts last week included recipients who attend universities from California to South Carolina, with some sent via TextNow, a service compatible with untraceable, “burner” phone numbers. The FBI on Friday said the texts from the initial reports were not identical but seemed to follow similar themes. An Arizona man has been charged with attempted murder after officials say he tried to kill a child safety case worker during a discussion about his child. Deandre Terrell Johnson, 32, attempted to strangle a Department of Child Safety case worker “until the victim lost consciousness” after a meeting involving his daughter, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said. An attorney listed for Johnson in the indictment was not immediately reached for comment on Friday afternoon. Johnson has been charged with attempt to commit first-degree murder; aggravated assault and unlawful flight from law enforcement. WASHINGTON — House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said Friday that he would "strongly request" that the House Ethics Committee not release a report detailing its investigation into former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. “I’m going to request, strongly request, that the Ethics Committee not issue the report.”There is precedent for releasing ethics reports after or on the same day that a lawmaker resigns from Congress. Johnson declined to say whether he spoke to Trump about the Ethics report. Tom Rust, a spokesperson for the Ethics Committee, declined to comment on Johnson's remarks. "There is bipartisan support for the Senate Judiciary Committee having access to this information," Sorbe said.

CNN —Hezbollah is considering a US-Israeli ceasefire proposal, sources told CNN, as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between Israel and the Lebanese militant group intensify. The US ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, relayed the proposal to the Lebanese government on Thursday night, a Lebanese official familiar with the discussions told CNN. Those efforts were upended when Israel killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a major bombing attack in Beirut’s southern suburbs. Another Lebanese official familiar with the discussions around the ceasefire told CNN that US President-elect Donald Trump has endorsed the ongoing negotiations, which have been spearheaded by the Biden administration’s special envoy to Lebanon, Amos Hochstein. The US embassy in Beirut declined CNN’s request for comment on the ceasefire negotiations.
