From across the aisle, DJ’s mother, Bre Francis, watched the two of them as they fidgeted with excitement. When she was a girl, airplanes were fantasies and family vacations meant road trips to Galveston or Louisiana. His mother, Bre Francis, is on the far right. That first morning, DJ woke Bre early, pleading with her to shovel the snow off the hot tub’s cover. The family watched as the Texas boys simmered in the bubbling jets.
NEW YORK, Dec 6 (Reuters) - For much of Wall Street, trading this year has been akin to riding a wild roller coaster. This year is shaping up to be a record for Citadel and Citadel Securities, the spokesman confirmed. The Citadel Global Fixed Income Fund is up 28.1% for the year, while Citadel Tactical Trading is up 22.4% and Citadel Equities Fund is up 17.8%, an investor said. Across Wall Street, firms are preparing for leaner times by cutting jobs and bonuses. After the 2008 financial crisis, Wall Street firms that were criticized for their excesses have sometimes shied away from lavish gatherings or held them in private.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has done so much better than the average semiconductor company, or even the above-average enterprise software company that it's insane that we even focus on some of the latter. The 600 companies formed in the last two years rent too much of your brain space even in passing. What enterprise software company can say that? Emergency dispatchers in a Utah county told local news that they're seeing more accidental 911 calls from skiers. Dispatchers told KSL.com the calls are from Apple devices with a new crash-detection feature. Apple's crash-detection technology sends users a message with an alarm sound if it detects a crash. Even with accidental triggering of the technology, the report highlights that dispatchers still view the crash-detection technology as a positive, and recommend people keep it turned on. The crash-detection feature has also set off accidental 911 calls for users who were riding roller coasters, The Wall Street Journal reported in October.
Musk posted a picture of his "bedside table" on Monday morning with guns and Diet Coke cans. The billionaire CEO captioned the picture "My bedside table," which featured a series of unusual objects including two guns, four empty cans of caffeine-free diet Diet Coke, and a recreation of the Emanuel Leutze's painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River. It is unclear if Musk actually took the picture himself, or if it is actually his bedside table. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns," Musk told CNBC in an email. Musk said his offices only have caffeine-free Diet Coke now.
Objects on the table include cans of caffeine-free Diet Coke and what appear to be two replica guns. In a 2007 profile of Musk, Inc. wrote that Musk was drinking eight cans of Diet Coke a day, until he started cutting back. "Now, the office has caffeine-free Diet Coke." Musk must really like George WashingtonThe replica gun and painting aren't the only Washington-related things on Musk's table. The job market is slowly shifting back in favor of employers, labor experts told Insider. During an economic downturn, workers may not be able to get away with just doing the bare minimum. That means "quiet quitters" could be the first to be laid off during a recession, experts say. And in the same survey, nearly nine out of 10 managers (87%) said they would "likely" have to lay off employees during a recession. So it's not necessarily whether you're quiet quitting or not.
Apple recently introduced crash detection for iPhone 14 and Apple Watch. Crash detection is calling 911 when users go on roller coaster rides, WSJ and Coaster101 report. The feature, which works on the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watches, is supposed to detect severe car crashes, and help users reach emergency services. Emergency services responded to the park, but didn't see any such incident, per a 911 report cited by the Journal. The Warren County Communications Center, which received the call, gave the Journal six such recordings of unnecessary crash detection calls it received, spurred by rides at Kings Island.

Today, Justin is working the least he ever has: 40 hours a week. But what these executives are missing is that some employees don't want to pal around with their coworkers. In peak hustle culture, work was where we expected to find everything we needed to live the good life: joy, purpose, community. Then he started billing for 40 hours a week of labor that often took him only a few hours to complete. But after nine months of leaning back, a solid 40 hours is starting to look pretty attractive.
