If recent history is any guide, snatching up shares of Marvell Technology (MRVL) ahead of its upcoming AI presentation could potentially pay off for investors, according to Citi. Given this setup, analyst Atif Malik opened a positive catalyst watch on the semiconductor stock ahead of its April 11 event, with its $91 price target implying 33% upside from Tuesday's close. MRVL YTD mountain Marvell shares in 2024 Nvidia, Broadcom and AMD "moved up into their respective AI days and the setup appears similar for MRVL after the recent pullback," he wrote. While Marvell shares have underperformed in recent weeks following a weak current-quarter guide, Malik noted that shares trade at an 18% valuation discount to many AI peers. ☆ Three charged with sending Russia over $7 million in electronics to aid war on Ukraine

Three people were arrested in New York City on Tuesday on charges of illegally smuggling millions of dollars' worth of electronics to Russia in order to aid the country's invasion of Ukraine. Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn accused Nikolay Goltsev, Salimdzhon Nasriddinov and Kristina Puzyreva of evading sanctions in order to send Russia equipment used in their precision-guided missile systems. The defendants allegedly dispatched hundreds of shipments of restricted items, worth nearly $7.2 million, to Russia over the course of a year. The complaint alleges that the defendants used two corporate entities to source and purchase dual-use electronics from U.S. manufacturers and distributors, and then secretly export them to Russia. Some of the same types of components were found in Russian weapons platforms and signals intelligence equipment that were seized in Ukraine, prosecutors alleged.

☆ Nvidia tests chatbots in chip design process in bid to use more AI

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Nvidia (NVDA.O) on Monday published new research into using chatbots that can generate human-like responses in the process of designing semiconductors. "It turns out a lot of our senior designers spend a fair amount of their time answering questions from junior designers," Nvidia's chief scientist Bill Dally told Reuters. This can save senior designers a huge amount of time." Dally said a big chunk of engineers' time is dedicated to finding a part of the chip that doesn't work and using testing tools to find out why. To carry out that testing, AI systems can quickly write piece of code called a script that operates the tool.
