The so-called "Magnificent Seven" were among the hottest stocks last year, but one wealth manager says they are "wildly overvalued" and has his sights elsewhere. The Magnificent Seven comprises Alphabet , Amazon , Apple , Meta Platforms , Microsoft , Nvidia and Tesla , which continue to be in the spotlight thanks to the buzz around artificial intelligence. Other global stocks Global stocks Dennison is betting on include Fresenius Medical Care , a German health-care company, and Kazatomprom, a Kazakhstan-headquartered producer of uranium. "It is a top position in many pension portfolios and has become a value stock because of the strong Swiss Franc," he said. Younger generations of Asians are spending big on art

Younger, wealthy shoppers in Asia are splashing their cash on art, according to a longtime collector and senior auction house executive. Chen Yongnuo | China News Service | Getty ImagesAnd, while the size of the global art market fell 4% last year to around $65 billion, according to the Art Basel & UBS Art Market Report 2024, sales in China rose by 9% in 2023, overtaking the U.K. as the world's second-largest art market. For Sotheby's, the rise in younger buyers is driven in part by an increase in online activity. "The definition of digital art nowadays has been expanded from simply photography to video art to NFTs to AI-generated art," she told CNBC's "Art of Appreciation." "With the younger generations becoming more and more prominent in the market ... digital artists ... will be the group of artists getting more attention," Siyang-Le added.

Shortly after, Aranda began to coach McKenzie. McKenzie alleges that Aranda remarked on her physical appearance, inquired about her personal life and would instigate inappropriate physical contact with her. I’ve never really understood why people enjoy eating chicken. Like the frenzy of people crowding Chick-fil-A or Popeyes when a limited-edition chicken sandwich goes on sale, as if it were the latest iPhone release. Or the fact that there’s something called the “chicken sandwich wars,” which could return in 2024 — thanks in part to the recent limited release of two new McDonald’s crispy chicken sandwiches. Warning: this episode contains strong language. Over the past week, students at dozens of universities held demonstrations, set up encampments and, at times, seized academic buildings. In response, administrators at many of those colleges decided to crack down and called in the local police to detain and arrest demonstrators. As of Thursday, the police had arrested 2,000 people across more than 40 campuses, a situation so startling that President Biden could no longer ignore it. Jonathan Wolfe, who has been covering the student protests for The Times, and Peter Baker, the chief White House correspondent, discuss the history-making week.

While Red Lobster increased traffic somewhat, people coming in to chow down on all-you-can-eat shrimp was a money bleeder. But the story about what's gone wrong with Red Lobster is much more complicated than a bunch of stoners pigging out on shrimp (and, later, lobster) en masse. Red Lobster first opened in Lakeland, Florida, in 1968 and was acquired by the food conglomerate General Mills in 1970. "What's truly happened with Red Lobster is that the consumer base has changed and Red Lobster hasn't," he said. "Red Lobster isn't losing to a competitor in their space — they're losing to competitors outside their space."
