Execs at a healthcare conference debated whether employers should pay for workers' weight-loss drugs. A Blackstone exec warned that the costly GLP-1 drugs could put some employers out of business. Panelists agreed that companies covering the drugs should do so as part of a broader support program. Andreas Mang, the CEO of Equity Healthcare, a division of Blackstone, said spending on these diabetes and weight-loss drugs, known as GLP-1 agonists, spiked 600% across Blackstone's portfolio in the last four years. PwC plans to train 75,000 workers in the US and Mexico on artificial intelligence. The training comes as some new hires don't posses certain necessary tech skills. The training is designed to teach partners and employees what AI is and how they can safely incorporate it into their work. That's sending big companies, including the consulting giants, into a race to acquire expertise in AI and to train up their workforces. To help ensure workers have the necessary skills, the company puts new hires and even interns through training programs.

VMware employees received an email this week laying out what their fates could be when Broadcom closes its $61 billion acquisition of the cloud computing and virtualization company. Sutter had cautioned that employees should "expect a feeling of acceleration" as the close date approaches and that Broadcom is "driving the playbook," the email said.
