Reps from Deutsche Bank, which NY says was defrauded, described actually prospering thanks to Trump. Advertisement"We are whale hunting," former Deutsche Bank executive Rosemary Vrablic told her fellow bankers of Trump in an email from 2011, soon after son-in-law Jared Kushner offered to make an introduction. She contends that Deutsche Bank was defrauded out of more than $100 million in interest income. As a sophisticated international lender, the bank did its own risk analysis, apart from Trump's net-worth statements, the defense has argued. But the state has countered that any fact-checking, any profit-making, and any other non-victim-like behavior on the part of Deutsche Bank is besides the point.

A judge on Thursday rejected Trump's bid for an early win in his civil fraud trial in New York. The decision was preceded by often colorful arguments invoking Putin, geese, and "spaghetti night." Those documents are Trump's annual, 30-page assertions of net worth, the so-called "statements of financial condition" that are central to the trial. Trump shrugged "yes" through a crippling series of questions about bank docs he personally signed. But behind his many tantrums and tangents (mentions of George Washington and windmills among them), Trump suffered, legally speaking, on that witness stand. The bank loan documents all bore his signature, Trump confirmed, not that this could be disputed, given the characteristic Sharpie zigzags on the signatory pages. Yes, Trump answered again and again. Of course, Trump being Trump, there were tangents and tantrums mixed in.

TORONTO, May 13 (Reuters) - The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) held a game in Canada for the first time on Saturday in what amounted to a celebration of women's basketball while perhaps planting the seeds for an expansion franchise. The sold-out pre-season game played at the home of the NBA's Toronto Raptors offered the latest sign that there is a growing appetite in Canada's biggest city and financial capital for professional women's basketball. The game aired live on three networks across Canada and the United States, featured an all-women, all-Canadian team for the broadcast and prompted the city to proclaim May 13 as "Welcome WNBA Day" to mark the occasion. Contrary to online claims, the earth is 93 million miles from the sun, is not flat and there is plenty of night-time footage of the planet taken from space, experts told Reuters. It also says the earth is flat and questions why clouds can’t be seen in nighttime images of the earth taken from space. Orsola de Marco, an astrophysicist at Macquarie University in Sydney, told Reuters that visibility of clouds at night could also depend on camera angle and the light source. Rather than a spacecraft looking directly through a cloud, shooting from an angle makes clouds more visible because more light can be reflected off the clouds, she said.
