The S & P 500 continues to make new highs, and volatility continues to decline. First, the S & P 500 has logged just two absolute 1% moves since Sept. 19, which is nearly a month's worth of trading. In fact, 114 S & P 500 stocks made new 52-week highs on Tuesday, which was the first time we've had over 100 since 7/16/24. With the day's opening and close both being higher and lower than the prior session's, this created a bearish engulfing pattern. The bottom line is that the S & P 500 and dozens of its holdings have built up substantial cushions by strongly coming back from the August lows.

☆ Charts suggest bull market can continue if tech sector performs, Cramer says

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday said charts indicate that the bull market can roar higher if the tech sector continues to perform, especially the stock of Nvidia , a leader on the indexes. "The charts, as interpreted by Jessica Inskip, are looking pretty darn good for the S&P and the Nasdaq-100, and of course, yes, Nvidia," he said. "We've got a much broader bull market than we had six months ago, but if it's going to keep running, Inskip says we need to see some meaningful participation from tech." While tech may not have to "lead the way anymore," it still has to "at least follow the leaders," Cramer said. To explain analysis from Inskip, Cramer examined charts of both Nvidia's and the Nasdaq 100 's weekly performance since last fall.

Celebrated New York City rapper and former firefighter Ka, whose real name was Kaseem Ryan, has died, according to his social media accounts. A cause of death was not available, and a spokesperson for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to a request for information. Ryan served the FDNY and the people of the city of New York with distinction for 20 years, working assignments in both the Bronx and Brooklyn," New York City Fire Department spokesperson Jim Long said by email. In a 2016 profile headline, music publication The Fader called Ka "New York Rap's Greatest Living Treasure." The announcement on Ka's Instagram page said he produced 11 albums under his name.
