London CNN —Catherine, Princess of Wales, will not be returning to royal duties with an appearance at the Colonel’s Review, a military parade in London in early June, as she continues her treatment for cancer. It is not yet clear if Kate will also miss that annual military spectacle – a highlight of the royal calendar full of pomp and pageantry – at Horse Guards Parade in the British capital. Following the announcement, a royal source told CNN that she would not be returning to frontline royal duties until she has been cleared to do so by her medical team. There had also been speculation over whether King Charles would participate in next month’s Trooping the Colour as he continues his own cancer treatment. Charles announced his own cancer battle in February but recently resumed public-facing royal engagements as he continues his treatment.

It was fortunate timing for Charles, as the pandemic had forced many companies to pivot to remote work. "So I'm either going to stay productive by finding other remote work or just wasting time and leaving money on the table. It's left him clinging to his two remaining remote jobs, which have allowed him to not only bring in extra income — but avoid the dreaded work commute. Hiring slowdowns in industries like tech — where remote work and overemployment are more common — and shifts to hybrid working arrangements have both played a role in this decline. CNN —King Charles III’s first official portrait was unveiled this week, and I’m sure his majesty would agree it’s a stirring sight. Unfortunately for Yeo, Charles and the butterfly, nothing about the portrait has garnered nearly so much comment as its dominant color. Besides these ceremonial outings, Charles has recently been less prominent in British public life than ever, particularly following the announcement in February of his cancer diagnosis. Charles’ private wealth dwarfs that of any other member of his family. Royal warrants act as a stamp of approval to indicate the preferred goods and services used by the royal household and senior members of the royal family. The use of royal warrants can be traced back to medieval times when Henry II first granted a Royal Charter to the Weavers’ Company, according to the Royal Warrants Holders Association. In the 15th century, the first official royal warrants were granted, including to the King’s printer, William Caxton. King Charles III attends the Sunday service at the Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate on January 7, 2024 in Sandringham, England. King Charles and other senior British royals are to relinquish patronages of almost 200 charities and organizations after a review of their association with more than 1,000 groups, Buckingham Palace said on Saturday. Elizabeth was patron of 492 organizations, while Charles was affiliated to 441 and Camilla 100. Organizations are able to apply to have a royal patron who in return can provide publicity for their work and help their achievements to be widely recognised. Conclusions of the review will be shared among the relevant organizations this week, which marks the first anniversary of Charles and Camilla's coronation, the palace said.

Few famous Britons, it seems, can resist the chance to be painted by Jonathan Yeo. Yet when it came to painting his latest portrait, of King Charles III, the artist had to go to the subject. Mr. Yeo rented a truck to transport his 7.5-by-5.5-foot canvas to the king’s London residence, Clarence House. There, he erected a platform so he could apply the final brushstrokes to the strikingly contemporary portrait, which depicts a uniformed Charles against an ethereal background. The painting, which will be unveiled at Buckingham Palace in mid-May, is the first large-scale rendering of Charles since he became king.

London CNN —Britain’s King Charles III will resume public duties next week following “a period of treatment and recuperation,” Buckingham Palace announced Friday, two months after revealing that he was being treated for cancer. But the palace spokesperson did clarify that Charles was not expected to carry out a full summer program. Charles’ last public appearance was on Easter Sunday when he went to church in Windsor with several family members. Throughout his treatment, the King has continued to carry out his constitutional duties, receiving his daily red boxes and paperwork. Charles announced his cancer diagnosis and that he would step back from public-facing duties while undergoing treatment in early February.

King Charles III will return to public duties next week, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday, an encouraging sign of his recovery, nearly three months after he disclosed that he had cancer, and a palpable relief to a country anxious about another wrenching change in the British monarchy. Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, will mark his return with a visit to a cancer center on Tuesday, where they will meet with patients and staff, the palace said. Yet in the opaque world of the royal family, the busyness of a monarch’s calendar is often the best clue to his well-being. The news offers a ray of hope for a royal family that has been shadowed by health concerns since the beginning of the year. She has been out of the public eye since she was hospitalized in January, igniting a storm of often spurious rumors about her condition.
