A fast-moving wildfire in Southern California that has grown to more than 14,000 acres prompted a Ventura County university to cancel classes and temporarily suspend campus operations as authorities struggle to get the blaze under control. The Ventura County Community College District said campuses were closed Thursday at Moorpark College, Oxnard College and Ventura College. It has grown to 14,187 acres, the Ventura County Fire Department said in a post on X early Thursday morning. Ventura County Fire Capt. Prosecutors have said in court filings that four aggravating factors exist in the case against Kohberger, who turns 30 later this month, making the crime more severe and the death penalty warranted. Though the term “atheist chaplain” might sound like an oxymoron, he doesn’t see a contradiction between his beliefs and the work of tending to the human spirit. A long-shuttered administration building at the struggling Knoxville College, a historically Black institution, was destroyed in a fire Monday night, officials said. Firefighters spray water on a building fire on the Knoxville College campus, in Knoxville, Tenn., on Monday. Knoxville College is a small historically Black college and university, or HCBU, founded in 1875. Frank Shanklin, Jr., a member of Knoxville College's board of trustees, told WBIR that the former administration building has not been used in the last 40 or 50 years. "We're going to keep fighting for Knoxville College," Shanklin said, adding that he hopes the city, county and people in the region keep it in their prayers.

CNN —Tornadoes and flooding spawned by severe thunderstorms tore through parts of Oklahoma overnight, leaving at least six people injured and shredding homes and other properties. The National Weather Service issued warnings for parts of both states Sunday afternoon. The severe weather is expected to move from west to east Sunday, the weather service said. Tornadoes were reported just east of Oklahoma City, and tornado and thunderstorm warnings were in place through early morning in the Oklahoma City area, the weather service said.
