The great majority of our almost 4 million federal employees would be furloughed without pay. But strikingly, one group of federal employees would not stop receiving their paychecks: members of Congress. Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution requires that members of Congress be paid while in office. What would it mean if those members of Congress who forced a shutdown of the government faced the same economic consequences as the average AFGE employee? The division between making the plan and living the plan is not inevitable or universal.

CNN —Barcelona continued its unbeaten start to the season but dropped points at the top of La Liga with an eventful 2-2 draw against Mallorca. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen gifted Mallorca the game’s opening goal inside 10 minutes as he failed to clear the ball from Barça’s box, enabling Vedat Muriqi to find the back of the net. But it was Mallorca which got the game’s next goal in added time when Muriqi’s header allowed Abdón Prats to squeeze a shot past ter Stegen. “We gifted too much,” Barcelona coach Xavi said after the game. “We made uncharacteristic mistakes … We did have chances, but it was a tough struggle back into the game.

Victims of military rule and their families have ramped up a push for justice and accountability, but politically the far-right has gained ground amid growing fears over rising crime. "Some people don't know anything about what happened and aren't interested, others are tired that...even after 50 years, many people still don't know what happened to their disappeared relatives," said Elvira Cádiz, who was six years old in 1973. According to various Chilean human rights commissions, there are 40,175 victims classified as politically executed, disappeared, imprisoned and tortured during military rule. "We don't know if we will achieve complete justice, but what we do have to do is get to the truth, find out where they are."

NEW YORK (AP) — Milwaukee's Corbin Burnes is pitching a no-hitter through seven innings Sunday against the New York Yankees. The 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner retired his first 12 hitters before walking Giancarlo Stanton on his 54th pitch. Winless in eight starts since July 20, Burnes is attempting to throw Milwaukee’s third no-hitter. He combined with Josh Hader on the Brewers' second, pitching eight innings at Cleveland on Sept. 11. Milwaukee’s first no-hitter was by Juan Nieves on April 15, 1987 against the Orioles.
