The Dutchman was appointed in April 2022 and won the 2023 Carabao Cup and 2024 F.A. But the club failed to qualify for this season's Champions League, Europe's premier competition, and currently sits 14th in the Premier League table after making its worst start to a season in 35 years. Ten Hag was informed of the decision less than 24 hours after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United. Brazilian winger Antony, a favorite of ten Hag from his time in charge of Dutch giants Ajax, exemplified the coach's transfer market failings.

Iran responded to that attack with a drone and missile barrage on Israel that was at the time unprecedented. Israel retaliated with a limited strike on Iran which caused little damage. U.S. defense officials told NBC News that Israel had told their American counterparts about Saturday's strikes ahead of time, but that the U.S. was not involved in the attack. "The fact that Iran is downplaying the attack and what's been hit is good news," he told NBC News on the phone. "Whether Israel and Iran will think like this is a different matter," he added.

In today’s edition, national political reporter Ben Kamisar breaks down our latest focus group of voters who did not participate in the last election but plan to this time around. Plus, "Meet the Press" moderator Kristen Welker previews Kamala Harris' trip to Texas. Among these voters, Harris gets a boost because they believe she would protect abortion rights, and some have broader hopes that electing the first female president could send a strong message to the country. But maybe more than anything else, Harris’ trip to Texas is noteworthy because of the issue she’ll be emphasizing there: abortion. Our latest NBC News poll shows why abortion is such a critical issue for Harris: It’s the top motivating issue for voters, especially younger women.

Among these voters, Harris gets a boost because they believe she would protect abortion rights, and some have broader hopes that electing the first female president could send a strong message to the country. Across the last three polls, Trump led Harris 50%-40% among those who were confirmed not to have voted in 2022 or 2020. On the panels, all three of the voters leaning Harris’ way were women who, in part, said they connected with her on an emotional level. She framed her vote as “less of a vote for her and more of a vote against Trump,” and she added that she never gave voting for Trump serious thought. There was a time, though, when any Yankees player on his way to face the Dodgers could have walked. O’Malley could not fathom that the Brooklyn Dodgers would move to Queens, so instead he set about moving the team to Los Angeles. Brooklyn Dodgers officials and employees pose in front of the club's plane at La Guardia in New York, before taking off for Los Angeles on October 23, 1957. Speaking to the New York Times in 2007, the Dodgers’ ex-general manager Buzzie Bavasi remembered that the franchise’s front office held a vote on whether to move. Six months later, the Los Angeles Dodgers played their first ever game, beating the San Francisco Giants 6-5 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

It took less than five seconds for the building in southern Beirut to be reduced to rubble. Videos circulating on social media and verified by NBC News, showed several men watching the strike on Lebanon's capital from a distance, standing by their cars as the building crumples. In another video, one man can be seen running from the strike as a colossal bang rings out. “They targeted two buildings, not one,” a man can be heard shouting in the third video. Two explosions can be heard in several of the videos, although it unclear where the second blast came from.

New York CNN —Meta fired around two dozen employees from its Los Angeles office for misusing company meal credits for things like laundry detergent, wine glasses and acne treatment pads, a source familiar with the company confirmed to CNN. Many of the social media giant’s corporate offices feature elaborate food services to provide employees with meals as a perk. Meta’s two-year-old office near New York City’s Penn Station, for example, features a cafeteria that feels like an upscale food court, with various stalls all free for staff. An internal investigation found that some LA-based employees used the meal funds to purchase things other than food instead, or had meals delivered to their homes, the source said. Meta’s median total annual compensation for individual employees (other than CEO Mark Zuckerberg) is $379,050, the company said in a regulatory filing earlier this year.

The United States announced it is sending an advanced anti-missile system and a number of troops to Israel, deepening America's involvement in the spiraling conflict as the region readies for Israeli retaliatory strikes against Iran. The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, known as THAAD, usually requires about 100 troops to operate, and has six truck mounted launchers, with eight interceptors on each launcher, as well as a powerful radar. Retired Brigadier General Zvika Haimovich, former head of the Israeli Air Defense, said Israel expected even an bigger barrage of missiles from Iran in "the next phase," after Tehran fired more than 180 missiles at Israel on Oct 1. But the presence of U.S. equipment and troops inside Israel would deepen the nation's involvement in the crisis. The arrival of THAAD and U.S. support might ease the burden on Israel's defense system, but Israel's latest reliance on its allies for protection may also speak to the cracks in its often impenetrable armor.
