Rubiales was, like everyone else at the ceremony, no doubt excited that the Spanish team had won the World Cup. Say it was fine and she’s a bad feminist, letting other women down by justifying bad male behavior (and, perhaps, lying). Rubiales’ kiss also tops off a mountain of allegations about sexism-tinged bad behavior in the RFEF. And yet, when the Spanish women won the World Cup thanks to their own skill and hard work, Rubiales still emphasized Vilda. This, too many people say, is just men being men, or a simple display of normal human emotion.

For the unlucky few who experience shark attacks, the ordeal is undoubtedly terrifying. Yet every summer, stories about shark attacks top homepages. Unlike shark attacks on humans, which are mainly attributed to curiosity, we know exactly what we’re doing. Throughout, the great white is characterized as a dogged predator obsessed with human flesh. I’d never suggest that the victims of shark attacks had it coming, or that cinemagoers should feel an iota of shame.

Earlier this year, Mr. Petrsoric, 78, was working alone around 10 p.m. when 60 or so people filed in after Broadway shows let out. He found himself going back into machine mode, a calm beacon of cocktail efficiency. He expressed his amazement, which Mr. Petrsoric subtly acknowledged, with a hand placed gently to his heart. While he appreciated the accolade, he gives the same polite treatment to the star-struck as to stars like Mr. Broderick, as well as cast members, directors, producers, lyricists and composers from nearby productions. CNN —Ron DeSantis on Tuesday defended his record delivering “pro-life protections” as Florida governor following criticism from the Susan B. Anthony anti-abortion group over his reluctance to embrace a national ban. I’ll be a pro-life president, and I will come down on the side of life,” DeSantis told Kelly. “We are running on doing things that I know I can accomplish.”“I think the states have the primary jurisdiction over it,” DeSantis told Kelly. But clearly, right now, you are going to see different states go in different directions and I understand that,” DeSantis added. I think that’s humane to do.”Asked if he thought Trump has gone “soft on abortion a little bit,” DeSantis said, “Well, I think so.”

‘Asteroid City’ Review: Our Town and Country
  + stars: | 2023-06-15 | by ( Manohla Dargis | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
“Asteroid City,” the latest from Wes Anderson, is filled with the assiduous visuals, mythic faces and charming curiosities that you expect from this singular filmmaker. It’s partly set in 1955 in a fictional Southwest town, a lonely four corners with a diner, gas station and motor inn. Palm trees and cactuses stipple the town, and reddish buttes rise in the distance. It opens in black-and-white on an unnamed television host (Bryan Cranston, severe and mustachioed) in a studio. It looks like a film, a meticulous, detailed, visually balanced wide-screen Wes Anderson one.

The Cannes Film Festival
  + stars: | 2023-05-20 | by ( Melissa Kirsch | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
The Cannes Film Festival began this week with Maïwenn’s “Jeanne du Barry,” starring Johnny Depp as Louis XV, and ends on May 27 with a new Pixar film, “Elemental.” In between, there will be many screenings, many awkward standing ovations, many awards bestowed. Wes Anderson also has a new one, “Asteroid City,” about a junior stargazing convention. It features many members of the Andersonian repertory — Jason Schwartzman, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody and others. In “Firebrand,” from the Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz, Alicia Vikander plays Catherine Parr, the sixth and final wife of Henry VIII, who’s played by Jude Law. Hirokazu Kore-eda, whose film “Shoplifters” won the Palme d’Or in 2018, has a new film, “Monster.” It stars Sakura Ando from “Shoplifters,” and the composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, who died last month, did the score.
Analysts on Wall Street are optimistic on Western Alliance after the bank's latest deposit update. Shares of Western Alliance popped more than 9% in the premarket. The analyst has a $71 per share price target on Western Alliance, which represents about 125% upside from Tuesday's closing price of $31.59. WAL YTD mountain Western Alliance stock has broken out in recent days, gaining 15% in the last five trading sessions. His price target points to more than 100% upside over the next 12 months.
The latest drop for regional bank shares is causing some Wall Street analysts to back away from their recommendations on the stocks, even if they still believe in the underlying fundamentals for the companies. Other regional banks also sold off, including a 19% drop for Western Alliance. The deposit update was not enough to reassure all Wall Street analysts about the health of regional banks, and there is concern that the drops in the stocks could reignite deposit flight. Meanwhile, RBC Capital Markets' analyst Jon Arfstrom stuck with his outperform rating on PacWest, but said only investors with strong stomachs should stick around. Western Alliance Another bank stock that has taken heavy loses in recent weeks is Western Alliance .

Photo: frederic j. brown/Agence France-Presse/Getty ImagesSnap Inc. suffered its first quarterly sales drop and indicated a revenue rebound would be slow as the social-media company grapples with disruptions in the digital ad market. Snap generated $988.6 million in revenue in the first quarter, a 7% drop from the year-ago figure, the company behind the popular social media app Snapchat said Thursday. The figure was short of what Wall Street expected, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet.
CNN —“Chris Evans and Ana de Armas” is about all that’s required to make the sales pitch for “Ghosted,” a spirited if familiar action-based romantic comedy, where the sparring banter generally outshines the muscular stunts. Throw in clever cameos and this Apple TV+ movie delivers on its promise of unpretentious fun. Unlike the needy Cole, “Ghosted” doesn’t ask for anything more than a couple intermittently attentive hours of your time. Thanks to Evans and de Armas, it’s the sort of invitation that’s pretty hard to ignore. “Ghosted” premieres April 21 on Apple TV+.
‘Ghosted’ Review: A C.I.A. Meet Cute
  + stars: | 2023-04-20 | by ( Calum Marsh | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: 1 min
“Ghosted,” a frothy spy-thriller rom-com in the tradition of “Romancing the Stone” and “The Jewel of the Nile,” is one of the least convincing movies I have ever seen. I mean that “Ghosted” barely seems like a real movie. It has movie stars, in the figures of Ana de Armas and Chris Evans (and, as the villain, Adrien Brody). It has a competent director, Dexter Fletcher, whose hit “Rocketman” wasn’t half-bad. But this tedious, unfunny, screamingly unoriginal romantic adventure film is so flimsy and so insubstantial that it’s practically vaporous.

First Citizens Bancshares ' acquisition of Silicon Valley Bank should result in a higher-quality earnings stream, according to UBS. Analyst Brody Preston double upgraded shares to buy from sell. The U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation announced March 27 that First Citizens would buy Silicon Valley Bank's deposits and loans less than three weeks after the collapse of the venture-capital focused bank . "We view the balance sheet as more well positioned to handle a recession going forward given the low loss nature of the SIVB loan portfolio, which should result in a higher quality earnings stream," Preston wrote in a Wednesday note. Regional banks remain under fire after the sudden undoing of Silicon Valley Bank. UBS answered three of the biggest questions bank investors should be asking right now. Here are five of the firm's favorite regional bank stocks to buy for upside. The shocking collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, the shutdown of Signature Bank, and "material weaknesses" reported at Credit Suisse led investors to panic-sell bank stocks — even those without financial issues. Below is a summary of those questions and the best answers based on UBS projections, along with the regional bank stocks that stand out in regards to each.

The 40-year old institution had an intimate link to the technology world offering traditional banking services as well as funding companies that were deemed too risky for traditional lenders. SVB also provided other services like credit lines and lines to startups. But over the past year, the U.S. Federal Reserve has hiked interest rates, hurting the once high-flying technology sector. SVB's collapse has come at an already difficult time for startup investors. The SVB collapse will also likely put the focus on startups to pivot to profitability and be more disciplined with their spending.
