New York CNN —Workers at a Southern California Medieval Times have walked off the job and went on strike before their second performance of the day Saturday, the union confirmed. Medieval Times LLC has not responded to numerous requests for comment. Medieval Times workers walk a picket line in Buena Park, California. In October, Medieval Times filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the union for using the company name, which is still ongoing.

The Florida legislature in April passed a law eliminating the Reedy Creek district, which has permitted Disney to manage its theme parks and resorts in Florida with little red tape. City officials from the special tax district in Florida controlled by the Walt Disney Co. moved to make changes that would allow Disney to build new theme parks and additional hotel rooms at Walt Disney World, steps that come as the state is trying to rein in the company. At a meeting Wednesday officials from the two cities that make up the Reedy Creek Improvement District, Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake, Fla., approved a resolution to consider changing land-use regulations to accommodate the district’s comprehensive plan, which serves as a 10-year road map for development at Walt Disney World, according to minutes of the meeting and a spokeswoman for Reedy Creek.

Florida’s state medical boards voted Friday afternoon to approve the language of a first-of-its-kind rule banning gender-affirming care for transgender minors who don’t already receive it. The rule updates the medical standards of practice in the state to mostly prohibit health care professionals from starting treatment for gender dysphoria in those younger than 18. Gender dysphoria refers the stress and discomfort some experience when their gender identity doesn’t match their sex assigned at birth. The measure bans the prescription of puberty blockers or hormone therapy to new patients who are minors, and it forbids gender-affirming surgeries. In a statement Friday, Equality Florida said once the rule goes into effect, it will be the only ban in the country of gender-affirming care for minors instituted by a state medical board.

Some Florida hotels are offering reduced rates for residents to shelter from Hurricane Ian. Rosen Hotels & Resorts announced it was offering special "distress rates" across some properties. The rates have been offered in Florida before when a storm or hurricane has posed a risk to residents. The discounted distress rates, which do not include tax, are $69 a night for Rosen Inn International, Rosen Inn Closest to Universal, Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando, and Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista. Rosen Plaza will charge $99 per night, Rosen Centre will cost $109 per night, and Rosen Shingle Creek will charge $119 per night.
