Federal Reserve Board Vice Chair for Supervision Michael S. Barr testifies at a Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing on "Recent Bank Failures and the Federal Regulatory Response" on Capitol Hill in Washington, March 28, 2023. Introduced in July 2023, the regulatory overhaul known as the Basel Endgame would've boosted capital requirements for the world's largest banks by roughly 19%. The change comes after banks, business groups, lawmakers and others weighed in on the possible impact of the original proposal, Barr told an audience at the Brookings Institution. "There are benefits and costs to increasing capital requirements. That would likely boost capital requirements by 3% to 4% over time, Barr said.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary added "Google" as a verb to mean searching for something on the web. "So long Google, the verb," wrote Mark Shmulik and fellow internet analysts at Bernstein Research in a note to investors. Related stories"Gen Zers, and especially Gen Alpha, barely use Google as a verb anymore, they simply say to 'search it'," Shumlik and colleagues explained. It might be concerned because when you're no longer a verb, that suggests you're no longer ubiquitous. So maybe Google is happy it's no longer a verb with the young folk?

Once I was finally on board, I was surprised to find that most of the seats were already occupied by reclining passengers. A flight attendant explained to me that this plane route is a triangle between Doha, Durban, and Maputo. So, the passengers traveling from Doha to Maputo were already sitting on the plane in Durban while we boarded. In turn, we sat on the plane in Maputo as other passengers exited. This made my flight feel a bit like a bus route and less of a luxury experience.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, left, meets with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi at the Plaza Hotel in New York, Sept. 19, 2016. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee asked former President Donald Trump to show proof that he never received any money from Egypt, following a recent report on a nearly $10 million withdrawal from the nation's state-run bank days before Trump became president in 2017. The Democrats in a letter to Trump on Tuesday said they were looking into allegations that Trump took a "cash bribe" from Egypt's president, and that former Attorney General Bill Barr and others blocked a Department of Justice probe into that alleged bribe. Asked about the letter, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told CNBC in an email, "This is textbook Fake News." The discovery of that withdrawal appeared to bolster the claim that el-Sissi sought to give Trump money.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation "led the 2014 investigation and forensic analysis into the Central Park bear cub," the agency said in a statement Monday. The discovery of the dead cub in the middle of Manhattan made headlines in October of 2014, but investigators at the time were not able to determine how it got there. The agency said it's against the law to dispose of a dead bear the way Kennedy said he did. New York Police and New York State Environmental Conservation officers handle the body of bear cub that found dead under bushes in Central Park, New York on Oct. 6, 2014. “Wondering how to dispose of a dead animal in New York City?” a post on the department’s X account read.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. acknowledged Sunday that he abandoned a young dead bear in Central Park after he initially planned to skin the cub for meat. Kennedy described driving north of New York City to go falconing with a group when he saw a woman in a van hit and kill a young bear. "It's going to be a bad story," Kennedy predicted in the video as people laughed. A dead bear cub was found in Central Park in 2014, leading to significant media coverage. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation referred NBC News' request for comment to the New York Police Department, which did not immediately respond.

"I was driving up really early, and a woman in a van in front of me hit the bear and killed it, a young bear. He then said his friends, who had been drinking, encouraged him to abandon the carcass in Central Park in New York. To dispose of the carcass, Kennedy said he intentionally left the dead bear on the side of the road to make it appear like a car had hit the bear. Related storiesA 2014 New York Times story appears to detail the incident though the exact timeline is unclear. He says in the video he decided to put the dead bear in his car. He said he broached to friends the idea of taking the bear to Central Park and making it appear as if a biker had hit it. Some of the details Kennedy describes in the video appear to align with an October 2014 incident in which a dead bear cub was discovered in Central Park, attracting coverage from major news outlets around the country. The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation said shortly after the bear was discovered that it had died after being hit by a car. In a caption on the post containing the video, Kennedy wrote, “Looking forward to seeing how you spin this one, @NewYorker.”

In the video, Mr. Kennedy appears to be seated in a kitchen as he casually tells the actress Roseanne Barr about the ordeal. He says that he was driving through the Hudson Valley when he saw a woman in a van hit and kill a young bear. “I pulled over and I picked up the bear and put him in the back of my van because I was going to skin the bear,” he says. “It was very good condition and I was going to put the meat in my refrigerator.”

But he blamed Congress for blocking a federal trial that would have resulted in swifter justice. They were dealt a bad hand by the political hacks and those who lost faith in our justice system,” Holder said in a statement to NBC News on Thursday. “If my decision to try KSM and his confederates in the tested and effective federal court system had been followed they would be nothing more than a memory today,” Holder said.
