MEXICO CITY, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Fernando Alonso and his Alpine Formula One team have condemned online abuse of race steward Silvia Bellot after Spain's double world champion was penalised at the U.S. Grand Prix and then reinstated. Bellot, also Spanish and the only female steward at the race in Austin, is carrying out the role again in Mexico City this weekend. Alonso, who finished seventh in Austin last Sunday but was demoted to 15th after a Haas protest and then restored to the position after a further review in Mexico on Thursday, posted on Instagram. "I strongly condemn the recent online abuse which has been directed at FIA race steward Silvia Bellot," he wrote. Alonso had his U.S. Grand Prix points reinstated after stewards found race control gave rivals Haas the wrong advice about a deadline for making a protest.

He was referring to Alibaba's ecommerce platform and the Chinese version of TikTok, respectively. The ecommerce giant has already lost another top livestreamer, Viya, whose accounts went offline after a tax evasion scandal last year. Li's reappearance on his livestreaming channel on Tuesday evening for roughly two hours occurred with little advance notice, with the news spreading by word of mouth. In the first hour, Taobao users paid nearly 30 million visits to his channel. He gave no explanation for his absence and his studio did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters. Analysts say their disappearance from screens have hurt online sales.
New York City is suing Starbucks for allegedly firing an employee and union organizer in Queens. "Starbucks continues to wrongfully fire pro-union workers nationwide in retaliation for union organizing," the fired employee said in a statement. In a statement, Locke urged Starbucks to "rehire all illegally fired workers and put an end to their illegal union-busting campaign."
