A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Robert Card, 40, of Bowdoin, Maine on multiple counts of murder. Card is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstances, police said. Residents in Androscoggin County and northern Sagadahoc County were under shelter in police orders and had been told to lock their doors as federal, state, county and municipal law enforcement searched for Card, police said. As recently as this summer, Card suffered from mental health issues, law enforcement and Defense Department officials told NBC News.

Larry L. Taylor assumed command of one of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment's combat engineer companies in Nuremberg, West Germany. Within two minutes, Hill said, Taylor and his co-pilot had strapped in and taken off, heading towards Hill and his men. On his last try, he learned that any attempt to save the men had been called off, the rescue helicopter was not coming. “I think about 90% of flying a helicopter in Vietnam was making it up as you go along,” he said.

The Navy is offering $105,000 to keep naval aviators in uniform and to become senior officers. The goal is to keep "highly talented, hard-working" aviators and flight officers on active duty. The Navy is also offering more than $100,000 to naval aviators to stay in the service and become senior officers and admirals. While there is little recent data, historically, government investigations and reports have found that the Navy has struggled to retain pilots in necessary numbers. This year, it offered similar-sized bonuses for some pilots to stay past that mid-career point as well.

Reports say the US is expected to send Ukraine depleted-uranium tank rounds along with M1 Abrams tanks. The rounds do what other tank rounds don't, like sharpening on impact and starting fires. Two, depleted-uranium tank rounds are pyrophoric, which means they burst into flame under intense heat and pressure. Explosive reactive tank armor "kind of increases the chance that the penetrator will not hit at the correct angle," Spoehr said. Tank rounds, of course, aren't the only way to defeat an enemy tank.

Reuters was not immediately able to verify the battlefield reports. Russia said its forces had launched a strike on Ukrainian army reserve locations using long-range precision weaponry, launched from the sea. Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine and Zaporizhzhia to its southwest are among five regions, including the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, that Moscow claims to have annexed from Ukraine.
