As the National Basketball Association's new season tips off this week, the league is seeing more international interest than ever. The NBA said it expects fans from more than 200 countries to tune in to games in more than 50 languages this season, with interest across international markets increasing significantly from last season. Global business accounts for about 10% of total team and league revenue, according to a person familiar with the matter. A significant factor driving the surge in international interest is the number of international players taking part in the league this season, according to Samantha Engelhardt, the NBA's senior vice president of global strategy and innovation. This season, all 30 NBA teams feature at least one international player, and 15 international players on opening-night rosters have been NBA All-Stars.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — James Harden vowed he would never play for a franchise run by 76ers team president Daryl Morey. Coach Nick Nurse, in his first season after five years with Toronto, is preparing for games without Harden. Harden even declined in June 2022 his $47.4 million option, saying he wanted to give the 76ers flexibility to improve their roster and compete for a championship. He signed a deal worth slightly over $68 million, paying him about $33 million last season with a $35 million player option for this season. More than 14,000 licensed childcare facilities across the US are due for a state-mandate inspection. Inspired by Morin's video, researchers at USAFacts, a not-for-profit group owned by current Los Angeles Clippers owner and former Microsoft Executive Steve Ballmer, compiled inspection data from 148,166 licensed childcare facilities in 41 states between June and September 2023 to discover that 14,683 licensed childcare facilities across the country are behind on receiving their state-mandated inspections. As for Minnesota, its state records reflect that 85% of its childcare facilities have received an inspection recently enough to comply with state law. Tennessee, for example, requires childcare facilities to be inspected four times a year, while California only requires it once every three years. In the case of Morin's son's childcare facility, prior state inspections had already flagged it repeatedly for grossly violating the child-to-caregiver ratios.

Karim Kharbouch, better known by his stage name French Montana, is bidding adieu to his 1.35-acre compound in Los Angeles’s exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood, asking $22.75 million for the seven-bedroom, nine-bath home in one of the city’s most celebrity-studded communities. The Moroccan-born rapper bought the home in late 2020 from the basketball player Paul George, an all-star forward for the Los Angeles Clippers. "Cord cutters, cable subscribers, fans with an antenna – everyone will be able to watch Suns and Mercury games," Ishbia said in a statement. The Phoenix Suns current television broadcast partner Diamond Sports Group said it would oppose the deal.
