The 33-year-old studied graphic design at Boise State University, and after deciding to focus on presentation design, filled her senior portfolio with them. By 2017, with her client list growing, she founded her own presentation design company, 16X9. When she and her fellow graphic design students would get assigned to do them, "people always were like, 'ugh, PowerPoint. In graphic design, "there's a lot of flashier things like advertising and branding," she says, but it was this day-to-day task that executives across the board were looking to outsource. A civil lawsuit filed Monday accuses Rudy Giuliani of sexual assault against a former employee. The lawsuit claims Giuliani discussed fantasizing about a young staffer in a recorded conversation. Dunphy claimed Giuliani demanded she perform oral sex while he made calls on speaker phone, including to then-President Donald Trump. In one conversation in November 2019, Giuliani told Dunphy he was in love with three or four women and that he had "a certain sexual attraction to" his 20-year-old staffer Christianne Allen, the lawsuit claimed. Giuliani told Dunphy he had fantasized about Allen and kissed her on the lips but that he did not "consummate" the relationship, according to the lawsuit.

Dallas Fed economists warned of a 19.5% housing market correction in a Tuesday research report. "[I]f the observed price-to-rent ratio grows at an explosive rate relative to its fundamental-based ratio estimated with long-term interest rate and rent growth data, the bubble hypothesis merits attention," they said. For the US housing market to return to its fundamentals, they estimated that a 19.5% correction would be necessary. There were signs that the US price-to-rent ratio began to fall in third quarter as prices cooled faster than rents, they added. For now, a modest housing correction remains the baseline scenario, but the authors warned that more hawkish monetary policy could trigger a steeper correction.
The recent global bond rally appears to be tapering off as investors are getting a cold wet dose of reality about Fed rate hikes. Bonds compete with stocks for investors’ dollars, and when yields go up, equities often go down. That tonal shift has sent stocks lower and Treasury yields higher, as investors rethink their views on the path of interest rates. The Federal Reserve’s efforts to date to bring down inflation while maintaining a strong labor market appear achievable, she added. “As a result, although Fed rate hikes could slow the labor market in the coming months, we think labor supply faces persistent headwinds in the longer run.”

A total of 95 cargoes carrying LNG departed last month from U.S. ports mainly bound for customers in Europe, which received 68% of exports. In December, U.S. LNG exports had increased to 7.22 million tonnes as producers made an effort to supply as much as possible to Europe. Clients there took 79% of total exports that month. Delays to restart the second-largest U.S. LNG plant, Freeport LNG, after a fire have also created limitations to export the superchilled gas since mid-2022. Freeport LNG on Tuesday asked U.S. regulators for approval to supply natural gas to one of the three idled units at its Texas plant, a milestone in efforts to restore production after a seven-month outage.
Rolling lockdowns seriously dented household incomes, leading many to reduce spending, which in turn resulted in less tax revenue for local governments. “China’s runaway local debt poses a serious threat to the country’s overall economic health and will weigh heavily on China’s still-nascent recovery,” said Singleton. Debt that is backed by local governments but which doesn’t show up on their balance sheets could be much bigger. That’s more than 20% higher than the estimate of 53 trillion yuan made by Goldman Sachs in 2021. Their debt squeeze could pose a serious threat to China’s financial system, particularly to small regional banks.
"It always rains a lot here, it's very cold and it's January and it feels like summer," said Bilbao resident Eusebio Folgeira, 81. French tourist Joana Host said: "It's like nice weather for biking but we know it's like the planet is burning. Scientists have not yet analysed the specific ways in which climate change affected the recent high temperatures, but January's warm weather spell fits into the longer-term trend of rising temperatures due to human-caused climate change. "The record-breaking heat across Europe over the new year was made more likely to happen by human-caused climate change, just as climate change is now making every heatwave more likely and hotter," said Dr Friederike Otto, climate scientist at Imperial College London. French national weather agency Meteo France attributed the anomalous temperatures to a mass of warm air moving to Europe from subtropical zones.
All week, the Dolphins tried to downplay the potential impact of the frigid conditions. McDaniel told reporters he did not believe the elements affected the Dolphins’ performance in the loss, their third straight. “I know a lot of people would like to make it about the weather, but our team never did,” McDaniel said. The Bills allowed only one touchdown to the Dolphins in the first half — an 11-yard run by Salvon Ahmed — despite Miami entering the red zone three times. Allen threw three touchdowns before halftime as the Dolphins defense struggled to contain him and his receivers while he scrambled.
The 2022 World Cup has been dogged by controversy since Qatar was announced as the first Middle East nation, and Gulf absolute monarchy, to host it. But a successful World Cup is far from guaranteed. Dorsey said Qatar could use a successful World Cup as a springboard to reform. "This is the first ever World Cup in the region. This is a big, big deal," said Mahjoob Zweiri, director of the Gulf Studies Centre at Qatar University.

On Nov. 9-10, Christie’s New York will auction off the art collection of Paul Allen , the late Microsoft co-founder. With more than 150 items, including paintings by Van Gogh, Cezanne and Seurat, the sale is expected to fetch some $1 billion. Allen’s interest in art was well known, but less attention has been paid to another of his passions: tracking down and documenting World War II ships sunk in action. Through his umbrella company Vulcan, Allen funded the discovery and exploration of more than 20 warships, including the American aircraft carriers Lexington and Hornet, the cruiser U.S.S. “Paul Allen single-handedly, privately, set out to find every significant U.S. World War II warship that fought in a major battle or had a significant story to it,” said explorer David Mearns, whose company Blue Water Recoveries worked with Vulcan for more than five years.

Sotheby's Modern Art Evening Auction will be held on Nov. 14, followed by a Contemporary Evening Auction on Nov. 16. "There are so many amazing works on offer," Sotheby's head of impressionist and modern art for the Americas, Julian Dawes, said.
A closely-watched survey showed euro zone October business activity contracted at the fastest pace since late 2020. "The final euro zone PMIs for October paint a clear picture of falling activity and sky-high inflation," said Jack Allen-Reynolds at Capital Economics. Asked what type of recession the euro zone would endure, 22 of 46 respondents in an October Reuters poll said it would be short and shallow while 15 said it would be long and shallow. In the euro zone, high operating expenses due to energy, wage and transport costs pushed services firms to raise charges sharply again. With no end in sight to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, nearly 65% of 34 respondents in the October Reuters poll said the cost of living in the euro zone would worsen or worsen significantly.
CNN —On the eve of Halloween, Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers’ nightmare season went to a new level of scary as they lost 27-17 on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills. The defeat is the Packers’ fourth straight loss, as they slip to 3-5 for the season. Rodgers threw for 203 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while running back Aaron Jones continued his excellent season as he added 143 yards on the ground. However, the Packers defense once again struggled and could not withstand potential MVP candidate Josh Allen for the whole game. However, after the defeat – in which Green Bay were down 24-7 at halftime – Rodgers was more measured in his response.
Chris Downs, 41, returned to the same company twice after quitting in 2008 and 2021. In a recession, returning to one's old job might not be so easy. In 2008, Downs quit his job as an associate for the global consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. Economic uncertainty is among the reasons Downs says he is "even less likely to leave" his job again. If he were on the job hunt now, he says he would probably prioritize job stability.
During the interview, Fetterman occasionally stuttered and had trouble finding words. Tune in to “Nightly News with Lester Holt” at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT for more of our interview with Fetterman. “It changes everything,” Fetterman said, responding to a question about how his recovery has changed his day-to-day. “If you’re going to be our next senator, you have to give the answer,” said Fetterman, who opposes the Graham legislation. Oz has criticized Fetterman for agreeing to just one debate — and accused his rival of hiding from voters during the stroke recovery.
The S & P 500 never really got out of control back then — and, relative to bonds, it didn't either. The Fed chairman, correctly, feared the economy was going to crash, and he would have been right. I think that's certainly how people act. I think that most participants have decided there's no hope and they are using an analogue that's 2000-2001 (dot-com bubble bursting) or even 2007 (before the financial crisis and the Great Recession). Autos have been hurt by supply chain but I think that's coming to an end.
WASHINGTON — A federal jury on Friday convicted a QAnon believer who chased down U.S. Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman on Jan. 6, 2021, finding the defendant guilty on all charges against him. On Jan. 6, Jensen filmed videos from the base of the Capitol building, where he proclaimed — inaccurately, but with tremendous confidence — that he was at the White House. “Storm the White House! Goodman, the USCP officer who testified at Jensen's trial, had “no back-up” when he faced off with rioters, Mirell said. More than 850 people have been arrested and more than 350 convicted in connection with the Capitol attack.
