Police in Michigan are investigating after a car hit and killed a toddler who appeared to have left her home after being put to bed on Friday. According to a statement from the Michigan State Police, a 2-year-old girl “got out of her bed and walked out of the house” while her parents were working around the family’s home in Allen Township, a small community about an hour southeast of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Police were called at 8:20 p.m. about a “car versus pedestrian crash” and found the young child in the road. An autopsy will be performed on the child, Jackson Post Troopers said in the release, and the investigation is ongoing. The lawsuit calls the actions by Grace Ocean Private Ltd, the owner of the vessel, and the ship's operator, Synergy Marine Group, "outrageous, grossly negligent, willful, wanton, and reckless." Darrell Wilson, a spokesperson for Grace Ocean Private Ltd and Synergy Marine Group, told Business Insider in a statement that the legal claim was "anticipated." Boeing will temporarily furlough thousands of U.S. executives, managers and other staff, citing the ongoing machinist strike as the company races to preserve cash, CEO Kelly Ortberg told employees on Wednesday. The furloughs will affect tens of thousands of Boeing employees, a company spokesperson said. Boeing had offered a 25% raise and the union endorsed the tentative contract. Boeing's CFO Brian West earlier this week said the company would freeze hiring and raises to cut costs, and would let "non-essential contractors" go temporarily.
