The Justice Department revealed an indictment Friday charging a Florida man with threatening to kill his political opponent in 2021. William Robert Braddock III, 41, of St. Petersburg, Florida, was charged with threatening two people, one of whom the DOJ said was his primary opponent in the 2022 election for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Braddock allegedly threatened to “call up my Russian-Ukrainian hit squad” and make the primary opponent disappear, according to the indictment. A Florida court in 2021 granted Luna and a conservative activist and friend of hers, Erin Olszewski, a temporary restraining order. The case is part of the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force, convened in 2021 to address threats targeting election workers.

Falaise is one of three 100-year-old mansions open to tour at Sands Point Preserve on Long Island. Falaise was built by Harry Guggenheim in 1923 and was modeled on a 13th-century French manor. Inside Sands Point, there are four mansions. CNN —Miriam Butorin was supposed to attend Taylor Swift’s concert on Friday for her 13th birthday. Miriam’s mother, Russian-American journalist Alsu Kurmasheva, was released Thursday from Russian detention in a historic prisoner swap. When CNN spoke with Kurmasheva’s family in mid-July, her husband, Pavel Butorin, had mentioned the concert tickets. “We were so confident that she would get back to us that I bought Taylor Swift tickets…in June or July…for August 2024,” Butorin said at the time. Even though they are missing Friday’s concert, Butorin expressed confidence the family would still get to go to a Swift concert in the future.

NANTERRE, France — Katie Ledecky is now the most decorated woman in American Olympic history. Ledecky earned a silver medal as part of the U.S. women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay Thursday night at the Paris Games, giving her 13 Olympic medals throughout her illustrious career. On Wednesday, Ledecky took gold in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle, her eighth Olympic gold medal and 12th overall, which tied her with Americans Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres and Natalie Coughlin. She is the heavy favorite to win her fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal in that event Saturday night. CNN —A new promotional video by tech giant Apple has been met with heavy criticism in Thailand, with many social media users claiming it offers an unrealistic, outdated view of the country. The plot follows four characters – known as the underdogs – and their attempts to overcome workplace crises using Apple devices and software.
