The multi-year deal will ultimately give Microsoft access to more of Nvidia 's (NVDA) cutting-edge AI chips, which have been in short supply since the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT last year intensified investments in AI technology. Nvidia is the world's dominant AI chipmaker, and its processors are housed in data centers operated by Oracle, Microsoft and other cloud-computing firms. In forging close ties with Nvidia, Oracle has made its cloud-computing operations more competitive relative to larger providers like Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft and Alphabet (GOOGL). The latest Oracle-Microsoft agreement also carries positive implications for Nvidia, further illustrating just how much demand there is for Nvidia's AI chips. With the stock market deeply oversold this week, we put cash to work by picking stocks across a range of sectors including energy, technology and materials. With the market oversold, per the S & P 500 Short Range Oscillator , our investment discipline called for us to search for any dislocations within the portfolio. Tech stocks remained under pressure Tuesday afternoon, giving us an opportunity to buy 7 shares of Broadcom and lower our cost basis. But stocks returned to the red Thursday, and the market remained firmly in oversold territory. However, the market reversed course in midday trading, with all three major U.S. stock benchmarks trading sharply higher.

Wall Street may be underestimating the potential for one major investing area to underpin generative artificial intelligence models: data. Now, as Wall Street has begun evaluating the secondary and tertiary winners of this long fight, investors may want to search for the data companies that also could triumph. Finding the data winners Engineers rely on data to train AI models, improve their performance and create a productive and relevant technology used by millions of consumers. "Right now, AI for them is an expense because they've got to train the models," he said. REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 22 (Reuters) - Oracle Corp (ORCL.N) agreed to prepay $104.1 million for processor chips made by startup Ampere Computing, according to Oracle's proxy statement filed on Friday. Oracle also invested $400 million in Ampere through a convertible note in its fiscal 2023, the proxy said. Ampere builds custom server chips based on Arm technology that compete with designs produced by Intel (INTC.O) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O), which use X86. Oracle has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Ampere since it was founded, according to filings. Amazon.com makes its own server chips that compete with Ampere, and Google makes its own artificial intelligence processors.

A new partnership between Microsoft (MSFT) and Oracle (ORCL) has the potential to benefit both Club holdings in the competitive cloud-computing landscape. Oracle, a database pioneer with more than 40 years of history operating in the market, had existing offerings geared toward Azure customers . Wall Street analysts were generally upbeat on the implications for Microsoft and Oracle, which joined the Club's portfolio a month ago. Analysts at Bernstein downplayed concerns that the deeper partnership with Microsoft will hurt Oracle's fast-growing cloud-computing service, known as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. "This partnership also lowers the potential risk of Microsoft trying to target Oracle database customers to move off Oracle.

Stocks fell Wednesday in Asia after a slide in technology stocks dragged Wall Street lower ahead of a key report on U.S. inflation. Stocks have been see-sawing in recent weeks amid the revived uncertainty about whether the Federal Reserve is done with its avalanche of hikes to interest rates. High interest rates work to undercut inflation by slowing anentire economy and knocking down prices for stocks and other investments. Still, traders overwhelmingly expect next week’s meeting for the Federal Reserve to end with interest rates staying where they are. But it’s been struggling since the end of July and has reported three straight quarters where its revenue fell from year-earlier levels.
