New York CNN Business —The relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia is one of the most important on the planet. Biden visited Saudi Arabia over the summer and even fist-bumped Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Arabia could respond to penalties from Washington with drastic steps of their own, ratcheting up the conflict further. Saudi Arabia is sitting on roughly $119 billion of US debt, according to Treasury Department data, making it the world’s 16th largest holder of Treasuries. All of this explains why a full-blown breakdown in relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia may be the last thing the fragile economy needs right now.
The new allowance rule? Allow for inflation

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/IllustrationNEW YORK, Sept 29 (Reuters) - If you are feeling the effects of inflation, here is a news flash: Your kid is, too. The year-over-year inflation rate in August was 8.3% – dipping slightly from previous highs, but still eating into parents’ paychecks. Which begs the question: How much should parents factor inflation into their allowance-setting decisions, if at all? After all, the 3.5% year-over-year allowance bump doesn’t really reflect the full scope of all the inflationary pressures out there. “So parents might be giving them extra jobs outside their allowances, in order to compensate for inflation,” he says.
Goodman told jurors that he’d been with the Capitol Police for 15 years and he previously was deployed to Iraq for the U.S. Army. Footage released during Trump's second impeachment trial showed Goodman directing Romney to turn around just after the mob had breached the building. The Senate chamber itself went through sweeps by K-9s and bomb squads so that Congress could resume its work, Goodman said. He told jurors to expect to see video of Jensen telling officers to do their job throughout the trial. The FBI has arrested more than 850 defendants in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Woody Allen has announced his retirement from filmmaking. While in Europe to work on his 50th film, Woody Allen told Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia that he intended to retire from making movies and to dedicate more time to writing during his twilight years. What is now set to be his final film is set in Paris and will be shot entirely in French in a couple of weeks. Allen has been shooting more often in Europe as his support in the U.S. has plunged given the abuse accusations against him. In 2020, he opened the San Sebastian Film Festival with “Rifkin’s Festival,” shot in and around the tony city of San Sebastian.
Cheers and tears — that’s how thousands of Hard Rock workers reacted when they learned their paychecks are about to get a lot bigger. As inflation surges and recession fears linger, Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming will spend more than $100 million to raise wages significantly for half of its U.S. workforce, more than 10,000 employees. In Florida, where the company is headquartered, some team members could get $16,000 more than the state’s minimum wage, Hard Rock said. Inflation is having an impact on the company, resulting in some softening in July, Allen said. Rising rates and pressure on people’s savings could put pressure on Hard Rock for the second half of 2022 and the first two quarters of 2023, he said.

CNN Business —Jason M. Allen was almost too nervous to enter his first art competition. Courtesy Jason M. AllenAllen’s winning image looks like a bright, surreal cross between a Renaissance and steampunk painting. Midjourney is one of a growing number of such AI image generators — others include Google Research’s Imagen and OpenAI’s DALL-E 2. “This is the literal definition of ‘pressed a few buttons to make a digital art piece’,” another Tweeted. Allen is glad the debate over whether AI can be used to make art is capturing so much attention.
