On Tuesday evening, President-elect Donald Trump said Hegseth is his pick for Defense Secretary – a decision that shocked even some of his friends at Fox. Hegseth and Rauchet disclosed their relationship to Fox management when Rauchet was pregnant (and Hegseth was still married). After returning home from Iraq in 2006, Hegseth wrote that more troops were urgently needed. HONG KONG — Thirty-five people were killed and another 43 were injured when a driver deliberately rammed his car into a crowd outside a sports center in southern China, police said Tuesday. Police said that Fan was dissatisfied with the division of property after his divorce, according to an initial investigation. The 43 people injured in the incident are now in non life-threatening situation, police said. A central government working group has been dispatched to the site to guide and oversee the response efforts, according to Xinhua. Hong Kong CNN —Police in southern China have detained the driver of a car that plowed into people exercising in the grounds of an outdoor sports center on Monday evening, leaving scores injured. A car “hit multiple pedestrians and then fled the scene” at the Zhuhai Sports Center in the southern city of Zhuhai at around 8 p.m. Monday, police said in a statement. The driver, a 62-year-old man, is in police custody, the statement said, adding that investigations are underway. The Zhuhai Sports Center features an outdoor track and field and is frequented by local residents for daily exercises. But it has faced a spate of attacks targeting random members of the public, including school children, in recent months.

Trading barbsThe German chancellor and Lindner criticized each other in separate press conferences on Wednesday. Scholz told reporters “Lindner showed no willingness to implement any of our proposals” and, therefore, “there is no trust basis for any future cooperation” with the outgoing finance minister. States in the US require a voter's signature on mail and absentee ballots, and several states require additional verifications, including comparing that signature to the voter's signature on file. As the state continues to process mail ballots this week, those figures — which are already higher than in 2020 and 2022 — are expected to increase. Hundreds of thousands of mail ballots, or about 1%, were rejected across the country during the 2022 midterm elections, NPR reported at the time.
