McDonald's Quarter Pounders are making people sick with E. coli, the CDC said Tuesday. McDonald's shares plunged in extended training on Tuesday following the announcement. AdvertisementMcDonald's shares dropped more than 9% on Tuesday after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said one person died and 10 others were hospitalized in connection with an E. coli outbreak linked to the fast food chain's Quarter Pounders. The statement said the illnesses may be linked to slivered onions used in the Quarter Pounders, which are sourced by a single supplier that serves three distribution centers. Walmart will start to deliver prescriptions to customers' doorsteps. As CVS and Walgreens shutter hundreds of stores nationwide to shore up profits and investor sentiment, Walmart said Tuesday that it is offering a new option for customers: delivering prescriptions to their doorsteps. The prescription delivery service is another example of how Walmart is trying to outmatch competitors on convenience along with low prices. Still, it is unclear how much market share Walmart could win from CVS and Walgreens, both of which offer same-day, one-day and two-day prescription deliveries. Walmart's delivery service will be available for new prescriptions and refills, the company said.

That’s because cocoa prices have more than doubled since the start of the year and have remained at record highs, according to Wells Fargo data shared with CNN. The surging prices have caused grief for confectioners during prime chocolate sales seasons like Valentine’s Day and Easter. The company’s president, Michele Buck, said in a call in August with analysts that cocoa prices are “not sustainable,” and pointed toward higher prices. Though hope is on the horizon, experts project cocoa prices will remain high until at least September 2025. CNN —Burnt ends, whole hogs, smoked brisket or dry-rub ribs? Few foods stir more debate than barbecue, and a new museum opening next year aims to look at all aspects of beloved barbecue culture. Set to open in spring 2025, the museum will occupy a 4,223-square-foot space at Crown Center shopping center in Kansas City. There you can sample the namesake burnt ends, once notably described as “burned edges of the brisket.”Burnt ends are a Kansas City specialty. Danny Edwards BLVD BBQ serves “a burnt ends plate with smoky bits of brisket,” and you’ll want the sweet potato fries on the side.

"Since 2014, 12 states have passed minimum wage increases through ballot measures," Martinez Hickey told CNBC. Meanwhile, voters in Arizona will decide on a ballot measure that would lower the minimum wage for tipped workers. Here's what's at stake for workers who make the minimum wage, and the employers who pay them, in next month's election. 1 would raise the minimum wage to $13 in 2025, and to $14 in 2026. Question 5 in Massachusetts would slowly phase out its tipped minimum wage of $6.75 per hour, until it eventually matches the state's standard minimum wage by 2029.

Sponsored by national cleaning company Cintas, the contest allows people to suggest bathrooms across the country. Voting on the top 10 nominations was held this past summer, and the winner was announced Tuesday afternoon. ☆ 100-year-old artifacts kept inside Kansas City time capsule are revealed at World War I museum

In 1924, historians and museum curators banded together to bury a time capsule inside the Liberty Memorial, to be opened in 100 years. In the 1920s, a group of prominent Kansas City residents formed the Liberty Memorial Association to construct a memorial dedicated to honor those who served in World War I. With the help of the Kansas City Police Department bomb and arson unit, the capsule was successfully opened with no explosions. The first of these artifacts was a tube of seeds representing the Kansas City agricultural community. The final object is a printing plate from the Kansas City Star dated to November 1, 1921.

The meeting “means that the church is coming along, the church is joining the modern era,” she said. One measure on the ballot in New York state this November means two very different things to its supporters and its opponents. Advocates of the measure argue that it is simply a way to codify New Yorkers’ right to reproductive care. The Coalition to Protect Kids-NY has taken to calling the measure the “Parent Replacement Act.” The group argues that the measure would be used to strip rights from parents and push transgender rights for minors, in particular. The coalition's website includes no articles or other information about the ballot measure seeking to codify a right to abortion. Hochul’s office has helped lead the state’s Democratic Party to spend over $1 million to advertise in favor of the measure, including local ads, campaign yard signs and mailers.

I realize that this old dad is not the hippest, but I thought I’d always kept an eye on the media my sons consume. On the surface, it seems easy to pinpoint what attracts our young men to manfluencers. That is the true draw to our young men, a place where they are the elite and above others. Since teenagers can be hard to meet head-on, try connecting with sons by praising them to others and through communication. We can lead our sons past the false trappings of fancy cars and money, and the cruelty perpetuated by these manfluencers.
