Abortions rose in nearly every state where the procedure remains legal, but the change was most visible in states bordering those with total abortion bans. After the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last year, it looked like the number of abortions would soon plummet across the country. The number of legal abortions has held steady, if not increased, nationwide since 2020, our colleagues Amy Schoenfeld Walker and Allison McCann reported today. The increase in use of those options has offset the decrease in abortions resulting from new state bans, Amy and Allison found. As you can see, states bordering those with bans largely saw increases in the number of abortions in the first half of 2023 compared with the same period in 2020. In Illinois, for example, estimated abortions rose 69 percent.

Less than two months after Peale fell overboard, 30-year-old Jaylen Hill also went overboard a Carnival cruise ship. In total, at least five passengers have gone overboard cruise ships this summer, including Hill. RALEIGH, N.C. – The 2024 election promises to feature several major battlegrounds, but for sheer breadth of competitive contests, North Carolina next year will be hard to beat. Costs have risen the most on multifamily properties such as apartments and condos, according to industry executives and data from credit ratings agency Moody's. Property insurance costs to multifamily assets in Florida have gone up anywhere from 30% to 70% in the past year, and are even higher for those with prior losses, non-renewing insurance carriers or valuation issues, she said. Nationally, CRE properties' insurance costs have grown roughly 7.6% annually on average since 2017, according to an August Moody's report. RENTS, CAP RATESRising insurance premiums on multifamily properties have contributed, among other factors, to rent increases in Florida and elsewhere, said three industry executives.
