Cali O'Connor bought an Amtrak USA Rail Pass to get from Boston to Napa two summers ago. I took a 96-hour train ride from Boston, Massachusetts, to Napa, California. I started my journey in Boston, then stopped in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Whitefish, Montana; and Seattle, Washington, before getting to my destination of Napa. The first leg of the trip was from Boston to Milwaukee, which took about 27 hours. It took another 30 hours to get from Milwaukee to Whitefish, then 14 hours from Whitefish to Seattle.

According to a new report, taking a long-distance train in Europe can cost nearly 30 times as much as flying. The report, compiled by environmental campaign group Greenpeace, compared the cost of flight and train tickets on 112 European routes on nine different dates. Train tickets were double the cost of flying, on average, while train journeys from the UK to Europe, which involves taking the often-expensive Eurostar to the continent, were four times the price of flying on average. “Governments must remove airlines’ tax exemptions, such as from fuel taxes and VAT, as well as reduce rail tracks tolls.

Minsk posted pictures of masked Wagner instructors, their faces covered in accordance with the mercenary group's rules, training Belarusian soldiers with armoured vehicles and what appear to be drone controls. It is unclear how many fighters of the Russian mercenary group are currently training at the training ground of the 38th airborne assault brigade outside the city of Brest. In December last year, Russia and Belarus signed an agreement legalizing the permanent presence of Russian military formations on Belarus territory. Earlier this week, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a law establishing combat centres for joint training for military personnel of both countries.
