CNN —In the closely watched battleground state of Michigan, election officials are under the microscope, with isolated mistakes or missteps serving as fodder for election deniers to lay the groundwork for widespread doubt of election results. Some of the confusion appears to have originated from a post on X by Matthew DePerno, one of the more high-profile election deniers in Michigan. DePerno has pleaded not guilty in the voting machines case. The S&P 500’s growth rate under Democrats is 10% compared with 6.7% under Republicans, according to CFRA. In those six years since 1945, where such a dynamic has been in place, the S&P 500 has enjoyed a sizzling growth rate of 16.8%. The jobs report for October came in much weaker than expected, and employment growth across different industries painted a mixed picture for the U.S. economy. The biggest contribution last month came from health care and social assistance, with 51,300 new positions added in that area, per data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. If private education is included with the health care group, like some economists do, the category would have shown even more growth at 57,000. Government had the second-highest gains in the period, seeing jobs surge by 40,000. Meanwhile, wholesale trade and construction also saw some gains, recording growth of 10,400 and 8,000, respectively.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has continued to emerge as an economic winner of increasing geopolitical tensions between China and the United States, though risks from fragmentation remain, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says. Though U.S.-China tensions have been deteriorating in recent years, ASEAN has adapted and continued to integrate with the global economy, the IMF said in its latest Asia-Pacific Outlook report, released Friday. "Despite geopolitical tensions, ASEAN has continued to strengthen trade and investment links with both China and the U.S.," the report said. "[T]he region has even been able to take advantage of trade diversion opportunities caused by US-China trade tensions," the report added. Overall, the IMF says these trends have contributed to the ASEAN region increasing its share of inward foreign direct investment, world exports and global value added.

“What’s scary and embarrassing is that I can see people come to help me, but I’m unable to respond.”Horsnell has narcolepsy, a sleep disorder that makes it hard to stay awake for long periods. In fact, it’s estimated that only 25% of people who have narcolepsy are diagnosed and receive treatment, according to the Narcolepsy Network. “But the terrifying thing was, I’m lying in a puddle of my sweat and I’m hearing everybody whisper, ‘Is he OK? Horsnell’s experience with narcolepsy hallucinations, however, is quite different. As a trained speaker for Project Sleep’s Rising Voices of Narcolepsy leadership program, he visited the White House in 2023 to raise awareness about narcolepsy and sleep disorders.
