Washington CNN —President Joe Biden on Thursday will join Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, the only living two-term Democratic presidents, aiming to use their star power to woo big-pocketed donors as Biden tries to join their ranks. The fundraiser is being held off-camera, though pool reporters will be able to report on the three presidents’ remarks. The Biden campaign said ahead of the fundraiser it had raised more than $25 million – making it the most successful single political fundraiser ever in terms of dollars raised. The fundraiser on Thursday is expected to be just the beginning of Obama’s involvement in Biden’s campaign. He is expected to take a larger role in Biden’s campaign – including traveling to college campuses and crucial battleground stakes – closer to November.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday guided investors through next week's Wall Street action, saying to pay attention to new nonfarm payroll data and Walt Disney's annual shareholder meeting, where its long and arduous proxy fight will come to a head. "Keep an eye on the employment report, because everything else that's coming next week pales in comparison — even the no-holds-barred Disney proxy fight." On Monday, Cramer expects decent earnings from PVH , an apparel maker known for brands including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. Walt Disney 's annual shareholder meeting will take place on Wednesday, bringing an end to the company's monthslong bitter proxy fight with activist investor Nelson Peltz. On Friday, the U.S. Department of Labor will release the nonfarm payroll report, and Cramer said he's expecting strong figures.

Over the past few years, supply chain woes have repeatedly come into the spotlight. Since then, global integrated supply chain systems just seem to keep getting disrupted — be it by the COVID-19 pandemic or Russia's war in Ukraine. The domino effect is due to the "just in time" model that supply chains have been relying on for decades. Here are three key reasons why supply chains just seem to keep screwing up in recent years. Examining ongoing conflicts in the Black Sea and Red Sea respectively shows how geopolitical conflicts affect global supply chains.

Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw denounced Ancora Holdings, the activist investor currently engaged in a proxy fight with the railroad company's board, during an interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday. "We've gone to the activist, and we've offered a settlement — their responses have been unreasonable at the determination of our board," he said. Norfolk Southern faced criticism over the past year after one of its freight trains derailed in East Palestine, Ohio in February 2023 and released toxic chemicals into the soil, water and air. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, 90 minutes from East Palestine, Ancora challenged Norfolk Southern in February, aiming to add eight directors to the board and oust Shaw as CEO. CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday celebrated results from CNBC's most recent Delivering Alpha Stock Survey, in which a majority of investors predicted the market had run too high and that a pullback is on the horizon. He told investors to welcome a decline and to raise some cash to buy quality stocks at lower prices. "I think people are right to expect a pullback here," Cramer said. While it's wise to raise some cash to prepare for a pullback, Cramer also suggested riding out some of the turbulence. When investors are always trying to avoid the next pullback, they may end up missing the next rally, he said.

Marilyn Lands, a Democrat, won a special election Tuesday for a State House seat in Alabama after campaigning on access to abortion and in vitro fertilization, underscoring the continued political potency of reproductive rights. Ms. Lands defeated her Republican opponent, Teddy Powell, by about 25 percentage points — an extraordinary margin in a swing district where she lost by seven points in 2022. The special election was called when David Cole, the Republican who had held the seat, resigned and pleaded guilty to voter fraud. “Today, Alabama women and families sent a clear message that will be heard in Montgomery and across the nation,” Ms. Lands, a licensed counselor, said Tuesday night. And last month, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos were people with rights — upending I.V.F.

CNBC's Jim Cramer gave investors his take on the valuation of Astera Labs , a company that went public last week and sells data center connectivity chips to cloud and artificial intelligence outfits. To Cramer, the stock debuted too hot and is more expensive than it should be at this point. "While Astera Labs has a good story — and it is good, I think it'd be worth owning at some price — I think it's way too expensive at this price," he said. Last week, Wall Street was buzzing about Reddit 's long-awaited initial public offering, but Cramer found Astera Labs to be intriguing. However, Cramer said he felt positive about some aspects of the business, saying if Astera Labs can keep putting up sales growth, it's headed in the right direction.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday told investors he thinks the government's antitrust lawsuits against prominent names in Big Tech — Apple , Alphabet 's Google and Amazon — aren't justified. "Honestly, I wish the White House would just admit the truth: They want to make the biggest businesses less powerful," he said. The DOJ also alleged Apple has a "smartphone monopoly" that makes it difficult and pricey for consumers and developers to venture outside the Apple ecosystem. If they annihilate Google, I guess we'll take our queries to Claude 3," Cramer said. "And if they get [Apple CEO] Tim Cook, maybe for the first time, someone will want a Nokia smartphone."

As I pulled out the spice tins, their combination reminded me of Julie Sahni’s ande ki kari (egg curry), which I adapted for this column a few years ago. There are myriad versions of egg curry across India, just as there are endless variations on eggs in purgatory and shakshuka. So, for my dinner on that cold and hectic night, I cherry-picked elements of each egg dish to suit myself. One note about those canned tomatoes: Although any kind will work, canned cherry tomatoes are my favorite here, giving the dish a particularly sweet flavor and chunky texture. Or, if you’re making this in tomato season, substitute chopped fresh tomatoes, making sure to cook them a few minutes longer so they break down.

The slate of this year’s honorees for the foundation’s “RBG Leadership” award, formerly the “Ruth Bader Ginsburg Women in Leadership” award, was announced last week and also included lifestyle icon Martha Stewart, actor Sylvester Stallone and financier Michael Milken. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a longtime liberal member of the high court who died at age 87 in 2020, consistently delivered progressive votes on major social issues, including abortion rights, same-sex marriage and immigration. CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday said he believes Nvidia will revolutionize enterprise. "The sum of all that Nvidia's doing will indeed create the next industrial revolution, because Nvidia's about the speed with which we can arrive at smarter, better answers," he said after attending the company's conference in San Francisco. Cramer reaffirmed his belief that the company is worth its $2.2 trillion valuation. To Cramer, Nvidia's market value isn't as apparent as tech peers like Microsoft , Alphabet or Amazon , which offer services that are clearly seen as valuable by consumers. But Nvidia is enterprise-oriented, he said, which makes the company "a behind-the-scenes kind of story."
