Haley's stance on military aid to Ukraine after Russia's 2022 invasion in particular puts her at odds with much of her party's rank-and-file. The campaign is making a strategic wager, advisers said, that Haley's full-throated support for Ukraine is more popular among voters looking to move past Trump, than with the Republican Party writ large. That position puts her in conflict with rivals, Republican front-runner Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley speaks during a campaign town hall meeting in Claremont, New Hampshire, U.S., September 5, 2023. Haley is getting more attention from Republican voters since the first Republican primary debate on Aug. 23, where she strongly asserted the importance of confronting Russia and China.

CNN —A newly discovered comet will be visible at times as it flies by Earth next week. Japanese space photographer Hideo Nishimura first observed Comet Nishimura in early August as he was taking images of the night sky, according to EarthSky. Comet Nishimura can bee seen as a faint green dot in the sky over L'Aquila, Italy, on September 7. “Unless it becomes quite a bit brighter than expected, it will likely not be visible.”What’s next for Comet NishimuraGiven how closely Comet Nishimura will pass by the sun, it’s possible the intense heat might destroy it. “It is very likely that there are more Category 5 storms now than there were 40 years ago,” Kossin told CNN. Rapid intensification has been happening more and more as storms are approaching landfall, making them harder to prepare for. Hurricane Idalia rapidly intensified by 55 mph in 24 hours before landfall along Florida’s Big Bend as a Category 4 hurricane late last month. “There is little doubt that the exceptionally warm ocean waters we’re seeing have a human fingerprint on them,” Kossin said. “Jova is sitting in the middle of this, and the warm water certainly fueled the rapid intensification,” he added.

Analysts' corn yields span from 171.5 to 175 bpa, meaning all 18 analysts polled by Reuters expect a lower number than in August. Since 2004, corn yield landed outside the range of trade estimates only twice in September: 2018 and 2005. Those increases would account for less than 0.2% of each crop's total harvested area, seen at 86.4 million acres for corn and 82.8 million acres for soybeans. Final harvested corn acres have been lower than in August in eight of the last 10 years. Since the mid-1990s, the largest increase in harvested corn area from August to final was 1.1 million acres (1.3%) in 2007.

In recent days Fed officials have said that while inflation is still too high, it is coming down, and they have said that any move to lift the range for the benchmark overnight interest rate depends on the data. The Fed last raised rates in late July, pushing its policy rate to the 5.25%-5.50% range. Whether interest rates go up again "depends on the data. Instead, he saw the increase as a hand-in-hand move with Fed policy actions. The Fed wants higher market rates, and in terms of what's been seen in the government bond market, "they're not going off the charts, certainly compared to where we have the policy rate."
