On Tuesday alone, retail traders were net buyers of Trump Media to the tune of $14.4 million. Schwarz said there's no reason for Trump Media to even be publicly traded given its business fundamentals and high price-to-sales ratio. CNN —Democrats are mounting an unprecedented digital advertising campaign in the closing weeks of the presidential race, pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into a targeted effort that the party hopes will tip the balance in one of the closest elections in US history. The outcome of this year's presidential election could bode well for different parts of the stock market, according to Evercore ISI. "Trump will be positive for US-only retailers (which have higher tax rates vs retailers with int'l exposure)," Evercore ISI said. Under a Harris win, these stocks could benefit, per Evercore ISI: Evercore ISI forecasts Harris winners to be renewable energy and EV companies, as that administration is expected to maintain the Inflation Reduction Act and other clean energy policies. Discount retailers such as Burlington and Ross Stores are another likely beneficiary of a Democratic win, according to Evercore ISI. A slew of tech companies, namely Apple , Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise , could fare well with a Harris win given the risk of lower tariffs.

Swiss banking titan UBS on Wednesday posted a large profit beat, after completing its first wave of client migrations following its integration of collapsed domestic rival Credit Suisse. Net profit attributable to shareholders came in at $1.43 billion, compared with a mean forecast of $667.5 million in a LSEG poll of analysts. UBS defends it is not "too big to fail." UBS still faces the lofty tasks of integrating its IT system with that of Credit Suisse, along with migrating clients — with the latter transition set to take around 18 months, Reuters reported earlier this month. The UBS results come after the profit beat of Germany's largest lender Deutsche Bank last Wednesday and join this week's spate of third-quarter reports from European lenders, including from BNP Paribas and Santander.

The U.K.'s Labour Party is set to unveil its national budget for the first time in 14 years later on Wednesday. Investment bank analysts have highlighted several stocks that could win or lose ground if the rumored measures are unveiled or curtailed. The Wall Street bank's analysts added that "U.K. long-dated yields might decline with easing budget uncertainty and continued inflation relief". The chancellor is reported to want to remove the inheritance tax relief available to investors holding stocks listed in this market in the Wednesday budget. Such a move may entice existing investors to sell the stocks, if the tax policy change likely impacts them.

Ambassador Nikki Haley was critical of Trump world on Tuesday for being “overly masculine with this bromance thing” following the former president's rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. On Fox News Tuesday, Haley addressed a comedian’s racist jokes about Puerto Rico and Latinos, a moment that has roiled the Trump campaign and was condemned by multiple Republicans, including members of Congress. “This is not a time to have anyone criticize Puerto Rico or Latinos,” Haley said, instead calling for discipline around the campaign. The Trump campaign did not immediately return a request for comment. “This bromance and masculinity stuff, it borders on edgy to the point that it’s going to make women uncomfortable,” Haley said.

Satellite imagery suggests that Israeli’s attack on Iran appears to have damaged a key element of Tehran’s ballistic missile production and air defense sites, potentially leaving it exposed to any future attacks, military analysts told NBC News. Israel appears to have targeted Iran’s missile production process instead of storage sites — thereby making it harder for Tehran to add to an already dwindling supply of missiles. “It was a very smart attack, targeting all the sensitive sites,” Hinz said in an interview. "The missiles are dispersed all over the country, some of them are deep inside Iran and deep underground. "But when you hit the missile production facilities, you can't produce them anymore."

Despite a difficult quarter, McDonald’s looks resilient in the face of various pressures, analysts say — something the company shares with U.S. consumers overall. “The spotlight is always on McDonald’s because it’s so big” and something of a “bellwether,” she said. That spurred former President Donald Trump to sling fries this month at a Philadelphia-area McDonald’s in a photo op. Like many major brands, McDonald’s raked in big profits as the economy reopened from the pandemic. “The thing that McDonald’s had struggled with, and why I think we’re seeing kind of an inflection point, is a value proposition,” Senatore said.

The Commerce Department is expected to report Wednesday that gross domestic product grew at a hardy 3.1% annualized pace in the third quarter, adjusted for seasonality and inflation, according to the Dow Jones consensus forecast. Along with that, the release is expected to show that inflation moved closer or perhaps even below the Federal Reserve's 2% target. The Fed uses the personal consumption expenditures price index, included in the GDP estimate, as its primary inflation gauge. The report, then, should indicate a solid economy and easing inflation , the latter at least on a relative basis from how things looked a year ago. "Overall, another quarter of above-trend growth and a benign inflation reading will be welcomed by the Fed."
