Ms. Reed filed an affidavit about her experience in February and testified on Tuesday in favor of the ban. Chloe Cole, a 19-year-old who has frequently testified to state legislatures about regretting gender treatments she received as a younger teenager in California, also testified on behalf of the state of Missouri against the injunction. The plaintiffs in the legal challenge include three transgender minors who are seeking medical care to transition and will no longer be able to do so once the law is in effect.

But the ISS itself may have to dodge space debris this afternoon, with station controllers considering changing its altitude. The risk posed by space debris is not a novel problem for the industry, but it's an ever more pressing one. Satellites and space debris are largely tracked via ground-based radars and telescopes. Investors shouldn't shy away from Coherent despite a lower 2024 forecast, according to Rosenblatt Securities. Shares sold off Wednesday after the company issued disappointing fiscal-year earnings guidance, dropping nearly 30%. "The good news is Coherent received very large 800G Datacom for AI orders in 4Q23 that drove Networking orders up 80% q.q [quarter-over-quarter]." Meanwhile, Genovese says Coherent could be the largest beneficiary of the growth of 800G optical transceivers, which streamline data transmission and gives the company ample exposure to AI. "COHR is the #1 beneficiary of 800G Optical demand for AI, in our opinion," he said.

Abating inflation pressure will help the central bank focus on cutting interest rates while helping stocks, according to Fundstrat managing partner and head of research Tom Lee. The Nasdaq Composite has been on fire so far this year with a 38% gain, aided in large part by an explosion in growth of tech stocks like Apple , Google-parent company Alphabet and Microsoft . Lee said that the lauded Invesco QQQ ETF , which largely tracks nonfinancial stocks trading on the Nasdaq, will outperform the S & P 500 for the remainder of 2023. "I think the triple Q's, which is very heavily exposed to tech, will probably outperform the S & P into year end. If we think the S & P has 10% upside into year-end, the triple Q's could be 15%," he said.
