In fact, I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, a red state surrounded, by very religious people — many Southern Baptist. Many of us, however, were desperate to move out for better job opportunities and to grow our careers. The more populous places, like the capital Little Rock, are seen as a lot more diverse. There are typically better job opportunities there too, but those opportunities were very limited for me. It worked out, though, because moving to San Diego proved more cost-effective than the Bay Area.

The so-called Magnificent Seven stocks are showing behavior consistent with major asset bubbles through history, according to Bank of America. Looking at variables including catalysts for the surge, the price of money (i.e., interest rates), share prices and valuation, Hartnett sees similarities between the Magnificent Seven and some of the other big bubbles going back centuries. As far as what could pop the bubble, he cited tightening financial conditions and rising real interest rates. From a valuation standpoint, the Magnificent Seven is currently 20% above its 200-day moving average. "It ain't cheap but true that bubble highs have seen dafter valuations," Hartnett wrote.

Tech executives from Adobe, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and TikTok gathered at the Munich Security Conference to announce a new voluntary framework for how they will respond to AI-generated deepfakes that deliberately trick voters. Thirteen other companies — including IBM and Elon Musk's X — are also signing on to the accord. Instead, the accord outlines methods they will use to try to detect and label deceptive AI content when it is created or distributed on their platforms. That pressure is heightened in the U.S., where Congress has yet to pass laws regulating AI in politics, leaving AI companies to largely govern themselves. Many social media companies already have policies in place to deter deceptive posts about electoral processes — AI-generated or not.

Based on recent polls, it does not seem that Biden is necessarily the strongest possible candidate. So, over the next six months, for the sake of his country, Biden needs to dispassionately assess whether he is, in fact, the strongest possible candidate. A third is that most Americans (a remarkable 81% of us) think that Biden is too old to run for president. (Most of us think Trump is too old, too, but fewer of us.) If, by early August, the analysis suggests that Biden is, in fact, the strongest candidate, then the best way to serve his country would be to accept the nomination.
