Apparel and footwear sales struggled despite strong performances for Sephora and other categories. Growth in revenue from beauty sales at Sephora was one of the few rays of hope. Kohl's continues to fight an uphill battle after sales tumbled following missed opportunities, a decline in footfall, and an overreliance on its partnership with Sephora. "We are not satisfied with our performance and are taking aggressive action to reverse the sales declines," he said. Earlier this week Kohl's said Kingsbury would step down on January 15 after two years in the role.

The personal consumption expenditures price index, a broad measure that the Fed prefers as its inflation gauge, increased 0.2% on the month and showed a 12-month inflation rate of 2.3%. Both were in line with the Dow Jones consensus forecast, though the annual rate was higher than the 2.1% level in September. The annual rate was 0.1 percentage point above the prior month. Odds of a quarter percentage point reduction in the central bank's key borrowing rate were at 66% Wednesday morning, according to the CME Group's FedWatch measure. The release follows consecutive rate cuts by the Fed in September and November totaling three quarters of a percentage point.

CNN —It’s a Thanksgiving miracle for one California family after a man who went missing in 1999 was found 25 years later when his sister saw a photo of him in an online article, authorities said. Not even his vehicle was ever located,” the man’s sister said in the GoFundMe post. The USA Today article, published in May, was a request for the public to help identify a nonverbal man who was hospitalized in Lynwood, California. The man had been found in South Los Angeles on April 15, according to medical officials cited in the article. The deputy then reached out for help from the Los Angeles Police Department’s missing person unit, which was able to fingerprint the hospitalized man and positively identify him as the same person who went missing in 1999, according to the release.

Revenues jumped 34% in Dell's ISG division, which includes the company's AI operations. But a lower-than-expected fourth quarter outlook drove Dell's shares down 12% in premarket trading. The biggest success story came from Dell's Infrastructure Solutions Group, which includes sales of AI servers, storage, and other network capabilities. Despite Dell's strong positioning in AI-related technologies, the company's shares were down as much as 12% in premarket trading after its final quarter revenue outlook fell below Wall Street expectations. Dell shipped $2.9 billion in AI servers during the quarter, and the company said that customers had booked $3.6 billion of future AI server orders.

For the past year, comparing short-term CD rates vs. long-term CD rates showed that short-term CDs had better rates overall. Even the best long-term CD rates were starting to dip under the 4% mark, going into the 3.90% APY range. For example, Synchrony Bank's best CD rate is the Synchrony 9 Month CD, which offers 4.05% APY. Long-term CD rates are still lower than short-term CD rates overall. If the risk of incurring early withdrawal penalties in a long-term CD is too much, you can open a CD ladder with a long-term CD in it to mitigate that risk.

But the Supreme Court’s upcoming and potentially explosive transgender care case is dividing conservatives, with many of those same groups backing Tennessee’s ban on puberty blockers and hormone treatments, which critics say injects the state into family medical decisions and overrides parental rights. Tennessee, and many conservatives who support the state’s position, argues parental rights aren’t a factor in the case. Conservative groups have lined up in federal courts to make nearly identical parental rights arguments in other cases. That separate lawsuit specifically asked whether the state law violates the “fundamental right of parents” to make decisions about the medical care of their children. In allowing the Tennessee ban to take effect last year, a divided 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals brushed aside the parental rights arguments.

Before the new airport’s opening, traveling by air to Greenland meant flying into smaller cities such as Kangerlussuaq to the north or Narsarsuaq, further south. The new airport will serve as the base for Air Greenland, which will operate an Airbus A330neo plane on a route to Copenhagen, Denmark. The strategy "almost always has the highest tax advantage," compared to other giving options, said certified financial planner Sandi Weaver, owner of Weaver Financial in Mission, Kansas. QCD tax break is 'better than a deduction'When filing taxes, you must claim the standard deduction or your total itemized deductions, including charitable gifts, whichever is greater. That means most filers don't claim the charitable deduction. Higher AGI can trigger income-related monthly adjustment amounts, or IRMAA, for Medicare Part B and Part D premiums, Weaver explained. There's a two-year lookback, meaning 2024 premiums are based on MAGI from your 2022 tax return.

Kanaike's shop announced limits on online matcha purchases because of the shortage, she told the outlet earlier this month. Another anti-government protest had come and gone in Pakistan’s once peaceful capital, and Saira Bano was ready to get her city back. For four days, Islamabad had been a tense battleground after supporters of a jailed former prime minister, Imran Khan, marched into the city. The capital, home to 2.4 million people, became a “container city” as the authorities stacked more than 700 shipping containers to block key routes and maintain order. Schools and shops closed, internet service was cut, and roads teemed with thousands of police officers scrutinizing passers-by. “This is not the Islamabad I grew up in,” said Ms. Bano, a schoolteacher who had to cancel her classes for three consecutive days.
