Like the overall market, Microsoft has been running higher of late as odds increasingly favor a 50-basis-point Fed cut. With so much hope on Wall Street, if the Fed were to go with a smaller 25-basis-point move, the market could get hit and pressure Microsoft stock. The Club has a $500 per share price target on Microsoft stock. That's our fundamental case, which aligns with technical analysis of Microsoft's one-year stock chart pattern. During his tenure as CEO, Grove transformed the chip company into a giant of Silicon Valley that, during the 1990s, was as important to the PC market as Microsoft. Pat Gelsinger, who has led Intel as CEO since 2021, has enacted a sweeping set of new initiatives to turn the chip company around. Its Gaudi 3 AI chip, unveiled as a rival to offerings from Nvidia and AMD, is expected to generate just $500 million in sales this year. Meanwhile, Alvin Nguyen, senior analyst at Forrester, told Business Insider that this is a big public win for Intel. Gelsinger's second headline announcement was that the company is establishing Intel Foundry as a separate subsidiary within Intel, with its own new operating board and independent directors.

Trump was whisked away to safety, unharmed, while the gunman, who officials believe remained near the tree-line perimeter of the golf course for 12 hours, fled the scene by car. Phone records from T-Mobile that indicated Routh’s phone was “in the vicinity of the golf course” for roughly 12 hours before he was first spotted by US Secret Service, according to charging documents. It’s still not clear why Routh went to the golf course that day. But Secret Service knew immediately it was bullets, and they grabbed me, and I think probably the other one, Steve is one of the people. One patrol deputy saw the suspect vehicle at about mile marker 110 and alerted others, following it but not trying to immediately stop the vehicle, Snyder said.

Stocks pushed higher as positive retail sales surprised investors. All eyes are on the Federal Reserve's likely interest rate cut on Wednesday. AdvertisementStocks moved higher after stronger-than-expected US retail sales boosted confidence in consumer health, as the Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting is set to kick off. Retail sales increased 0.1% last month, compared to consensus estimates of a 0.2% decline. Strong retail sales suggest that the Fed does not necessarily have to hurry with larger cuts, as the consumer economy appears intact for now.

After months of high interest rates, the economic tides appear to be shifting. Experts largely expect the Federal Reserve to slash interest rates during the central bank's meeting on Wednesday, a reversal of a rate-hiking policy aimed at taming post-pandemic era inflation. For consumers, declining short-term interest rates will come as a relief. Versions of all three vehicles currently offer guaranteed interest rates north of 5%. That means, for certain savers, now may be the last opportunity to lock in a relatively high interest rate on short- to medium-term investments, says Amy Arnott, a portfolio strategist with Morningstar Research Services.

Immediately after the video was posted on Sept. 2, social media users pointed out reasons to be wary. The caution was warranted, according to a new Microsoft threat intelligence report, which confirms the fabricated tale was disinformation from a Russia-linked troll farm. The report builds on previous concerns the U.S. has had about Russian interference in the upcoming election. Notably, some of the recent examples cited in the Microsoft report received significant social media engagement from unwitting Americans who shared the fake stories with outrage. "As the election approaches, people get more heated," Clint Watts, general manager of the Microsoft Threat Analysis Center said in an interview.

For diving anoles, gular pumping may also play a part in circulating stored oxygen, affecting how long anoles can stay underwater. CNN —Archaeologists have unearthed the ancient remains of an Egyptian army barracks and the artifacts left there, including a still-shiny bronze sword engraved with the name of King Ramses II in hieroglyphics. According to the ministry, Egypt was enjoying a time of economic prosperity and political stability known as the New Kingdom when the fort was in use. Archaeologists also uncovered necklaces made from carnelian and faience beads – types of semi-precious stones used by the ancient Egyptians – as well as half a bronze ring. Archaeologists uncovered several personal items belonging to the soldiers. Some of the rooms were used to store food, Ayman Ashmawy, head of the Egyptian antiquities sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said, with fragments of large pottery and animal bones still remaining.

CNN —Ex-President Donald Trump responded to a second apparent assassination attempt that he blames on incendiary political rhetoric by inflaming the situation even more. He accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inviting assassins to target him when they warn that he is a threat to democracy. But Trump’s claims that Biden and Harris bear direct culpability underscore the extreme nature of his own political instincts. Biden and Trump had a telephone conversation, and the president conveyed his relief that his erstwhile rival was safe. And when he refused to concede that he lost the 2020 election, Trump called supporters to Washington, DC, and told them to “fight like hell” or they wouldn’t have a country anymore.

Someone like Routh was quite easy to meet in Ukraine in the opening months of Russia’s full-scale war in 2022. But already, Moscow’s prolific echo chambers have begun to fashion a narrative in which US support for Ukraine is somehow extremist. People stand near the sports complex of a university after Russian missile attacks in Kyiv, Ukraine, on September 2. The clamor of support for Ukraine to receive US permission to fire longer-range US-supplied missiles at targets deeper inside Russian territory had been growing. The sudden insertion of a wayward extremist like Routh is a loud, confusing wild card, at a time when support for Ukraine urgently needed a calm and balanced voice.

Kamala Harris just got one of her best polls of the year

CNN —One of the best pollsters in America recently came out with its latest survey, and it’s good news for Kamala Harris. That result fell well short of the lead he had in preelection state polling. The fact that the Selzer poll is indicating a similar shift in Harris’ favor in Iowa makes me think the Wisconsin polls may be on to something. This Selzer poll could also be an outlier, and much could change between now and Election Day. The bottom line: You’d much rather have the Selzer poll in your corner than not.
