JERUSALEM, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Lebanese Hezbollah fighters launched a missile at an Israeli northern border village on Sunday, killing one person and wounding three others, the militant group and Israeli medics said. The medics had initially said two people were wounded in the attack on Shtula, a farming community the abuts the border fence, opposite the Lebanese community of Ayta a-Shab. The Israeli military said it was striking in Lebanon in retaliation and it declared a zone within 4 km (2 miles) of the Lebanese border off-limits to public access. On Monday, rocket-warning sirens sounded in several towns in southern Israel, the Israeli military said. Authorities in Gaza said at least 2,750 people had so far been killed by the Israeli strikes, a quarter of them children, and nearly 10,000 wounded. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement: "There is currently no truce and humanitarian aid in Gaza in exchange for getting foreigners out." The newest U.S. aircraft carrier - and the world's largest - is already in the eastern Mediterranean and set to be joined by a second U.S. aircraft carrier in the next 10 days. Israel said it has already struck dozens of military targets, including command centers and rocket launchers, and also killed Hamas commanders. Draped in a Lebanese flag, Abdallah’s body was carried on a stretcher through the streets of his southern town of Khiam, from his family’s home to the local cemetery. France’s international news agency, Agence France-Presse, said two of its journalists were also wounded: photographer Christina Assi, and video journalist Dylan Collins. The Lebanon-Israel border has been witnessing sporadic acts of violence since Saturday's surprise attack by the militant Palestinian group Hamas on southern Israel. A video of people climbing the Israel-Lebanon border wall during protests in solidarity with the Palestinian people in May 2021 has resurfaced online with the false claim that it was filmed in October 2023 during the latest conflict between Hamas and Israel. The mislabeled video was shared online after former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal called for protests across the Muslim world on Oct. 13 in support of Palestinians, Reuters reported. A Reuters photograph taken at the Lebanese border village of Adaisseh on May 15, 2021, shows people climbing the concrete wall with the large building in the background. The building in the background is a match when comparing the YouTube video uploaded in 2021, the clip circulating in 2023 and the Reuters image taken on May 15, 2021, in Adaisseh village. The video shows people scaling the Israel-Lebanon border wall in 2021, not 2023.
