The company launched its first Amazon Go convenience store featuring a new kind of technology, called "Just Walk Out." In 2020, the company began licensing Just Walk Out technology to third parties, signing on retailers in stadiums, airports and hospitals. The company discontinued some of its retail chains, closed eight Amazon Go stores, and hit pause on new Fresh store openings. While it's no longer featuring Just Walk Out as prominently in its own stores, Amazon says it has inked deals with a growing list of customers. Amazon in July updated the AI system behind its Just Walk Out technology to handle all the inputs in a store simultaneously.

Dealmaking activity has picked up, but it's not been enough to fully unlock Morgan Stanley shares. Morgan Stanley ended Friday within a dollar of its all-time closing high of $108.73 reached back in February 2022. Friday's positive developments are welcome news – but not enough to add clarity on our path forward for Morgan Stanley. For the time being, the Club is taking a wait-and-see approach with Morgan Stanley stock. If there is a surge in IPO and M & A activity that HSBC forecasted, Morgan Stanley is well-positioned to benefit.

The specific cruise ship you go on — and the room you're in — can determine what kind of time you have. Research your shipWhen you cruise, the ship is your hotel, your mode of transportation, your restaurants, and oftentimes, it provides professional entertainment, too. Your cruise ship isn't merely a way to get from point A to point B. If you can, avoid a noisy cabin right under the pool or on a deck right above or below the theater." Most cruise drink packages don't begin until you leave ports of call, so you can usually only get included drinks while you're sailing.

The European Union on Friday voted to adopt definitive tariffs on China-made battery electric vehicles. “Today, the European Commission’s proposal to impose definitive countervailing duties on imports of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from China has obtained the necessary support from E.U. Member States for the adoption of tariffs,” the E.U. first announced that it would slap higher tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports in June, on the grounds that they benefit “heavily from unfair subsidies” and pose a “threat of economic injury” to electric vehicle producers in Europe. to start investigations of potential tariffs, Germany has advocated against them, raising concerns about consequences for its own struggling carmakers.

CNN —Megan Rathmell thought she’d bombed her job interview earlier this year, assuming her nervousness and lack of preparation had cost her the opportunity. SDI Productions/E+/Getty ImagesWhat Rathmell learned from her boss mirrors what hiring managers say: Some Gen Z college graduates are unprepared for job interviews or behave unprofessionally during job interviews. Some people think they can just wing a job interview, said Stacie Haller, chief career advisor at ResumeBuilder. How to handle the actual job interviewDressing professionally for both in-person and virtual interviews is important regardless of whether it’s for a fast-food restaurant, retail store or office job, experts said. When you’re given the chance to ask questions, ask what you’ve prepared.

Twice this year, US forces in the region have assisted Israel in intercepting an attack by Iran. Austin announced in early August that he was sending the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to the region; it arrived later that month. The strike group consists of thousands of sailors and Marines, spanning across three destroyers and a carrier air wing. The USS Spruance and USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., also both guided-missile destroyers that are part of the strike group, were operating in the Red Sea. Shein is set to hold informal investor meetings in the coming weeks for its planned London initial public offering, three sources with knowledge of the matter said, pushing ahead with preparations as it awaits U.K. regulatory approval. The China-founded online retailer plans to hold informal roadshows mainly across Europe, one of the sources said, during which an IPO-bound company fields large investors' questions and tests their investment appetite. Shein confidentially filed papers with Britain's markets regulator in early June, kicking off the process for a potential London listing by the company later in the year, Reuters reported in June, citing sources. "The trend was inevitable," said Teresa Ghilarducci, professor of economics at The New School for Social Research in New York. "The lack of affordable childcare may be playing a role," according to Richard Fry, a senior researcher at Pew. "The childcare crisis, which was simmering prior to the pandemic, has come to a boil," according to a KPMG analysis. A study by the Pew Research Center found that men who are not college-educated leave the workforce at higher rates than men who are. MILWAUKEE — Former President Donald Trump has never stopped propagating falsehoods that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him. “The Democrat Party is guilty of the Worst Election Interference in American History,” Trump wrote Wednesday on social media after the judge overseeing his federal election interference case in Washington released a redacted filing from special counsel Jack Smith. Trump’s campaign did not provide a response to questions about his repeated use of the “election interference” label. It’s part of an extensive pattern of false election-rigging claims from Trump — beyond his well-documented lies about the 2020 election. He was among the 139 GOP House members who objected to the 2020 election certification.

A level playing field produces better products and services," Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Romeo Lumagui said in a statement. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr signed into law on Wednesday the imposition of VAT on non-resident digital service providers such as streaming services and online search engines. The Philippines will impose a 12% value-added tax on digital services offered by tech giants such as Amazon , Netflix , Disney , and Alphabet , in a move that will level the playing field with domestic brick and mortar players, the internal revenue agency said on Thursday. Only domestic digital service providers are now subject to paying the 12% VAT, the agency said. Digital services provided by foreign firms are considered rendered in the Philippines if the digital services are consumed in the Southeast Asian nation, the revenue agency said.

Trade tensions, too, have resulted in tariffs and affected world trade in certain goods. The market for companies in this space is driven by the volume of global trade, and this so-called supply chain "complexity," Goldman noted. It sees some stocks as being able to benefit from higher supply chain "complexity." Freight-forwarding firms such as DSV , DHL Forwarding and Kuehne+Nagel are "well-placed to help their clients navigate higher complexity and shocks," Goldman said. Container lines such as Cosco, Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd are less directly exposed to the higher supply chain complexity, said Goldman.

Amazon's Rufus AI chatbot answers questions about products and recommends items. The new chatbot illustrates Amazon's complicated relationship with copycat items: The company forbids selling counterfeit or illegally replicated products on its platform. Amazon has warehouses full of products that don't have brand names that people would immediately recognize but might be similar to those brands' products. In theory, Rufus should be able to help — AI should help people compare similar items and answer questions about them. For now, Amazon's Rufus probably won't.

CNN —September’s jobs report, due out Friday morning, is expected to show that the US labor market has slowed somewhat but remains on solid footing. While September’s employment data is expected to stay relatively tame, the same can’t be said for the October jobs report, which is set to be released on November 1, just days before the presidential election. The strikes and hurricane-related effects “are not going to permanently alter the trajectory of the labor market; but September is probably our last clean reading on the labor market for a while,” Ryan Sweet, chief US economist at Oxford Economics, told CNN earlier this week. The August jobs report, which showed better-than-expected estimated 142,000 payroll gains and a drop in the unemployment rate, went a long way to quell those fears. It showed that the jobs market is in “stasis,” Wells Fargo economists wrote in a note issued Tuesday.
