Biden has little chance of passing ambitious legislation given the state of Congress, and faces a tough election. CNN —A federal bankruptcy judge ruled Thursday that bankruptcy proceedings will not shield Infowars host Alex Jones from more than $1.1 billion in damages he owes the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims who won a civil defamation case against him in Connecticut last year. The families filed a motion in May asking the court to force Jones to pay the trial damages and rule out the possibility of a forced settlement in Chapter 11 proceedings. Jones and other InfoWars personalities called the massacre a hoax and accused the victims’ families of being crisis actors. Infowars filed bankruptcy last July in the middle of their trial. The summary judgments issued Thursday only addressed Alex Jones’ bankruptcy proceedings, not those of his company, which were not filed under traditional Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Ikwuakor noticed that the best leaders are even-tempered. AdvertisementAdvertisementThis as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with AK Ikwuakor , a 38-year-old executive sales coach lead at Google from Marina Del Rey, California. As an executive coach, corporate team trainer, and consultant, I've worked with leaders and teams from fledgling startups to global conglomerates such as Google, Duke Basketball and the State Department. The best decision can fall flat if it's not translated into action, so the best leaders create a plan, assign responsibilities, and provide people with resources and support. The goal of successful leaders is the opposite of this: maintaining emotional intelligence while executing their daily objectives.

Cocaine is also increasingly found in shipments of tuna, as well as hidden in hollowed-out pineapples and stashed amid sugar, police say. The security situation in Ecuador has sharply deteriorated in recent years, one factor in South America's migrant exodus. Police have seized some 50 tonnes of drugs so far this year at the country's two principal ports. The percentage of searched banana shipments which contained cocaine has fallen this year, but it is still very high - at 57% in 2023, from 70% in 2022, according to police figures. There is evidence some drugs may be being displaced elsewhere, with the amount of searched tuna shipments containing drugs rising to 9% from 3%.

The program, called the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief Program, or PEPFAR, started in 2003 by President George W. Bush. Congress missed the Sept. 30 deadline to renew funding for PEPFAR before it expired. The policy had not been included as a part of PEPFAR funding until 2017, when the Trump administration expanded the policy to include it as a part of the program. Advocates for PEPFAR contend the program does not directly or indirectly fund abortion services. For some countries, the health benefits of the PEPFAR program go beyond its mission of reducing the spread of AIDS.
