Franklin/APFormer President Donald Trump addressed supporters at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, Friday, where he was joined by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his own presidential campaign just hours earlier. However, Harris did mention the border and criticized Trump’s role in tanking a bipartisan border bill earlier this year. RFK Jr. could be appointed to a health panel: When suspending his presidential campaign, Kennedy suggested that he could join a potential second Trump administration in a role that would oversee a health care portfolio. Following the tour, Harris will headline a solo rally in Savannah, Georgia. The southern Georgia bus tour is expected to echo the campaign’s bus tour of western Pennsylvania earlier this month, which included stops at a local campaign field office, firehouse and high school football practice. We have hosted more than 500 events in the region since May 31,” Harris-Walz Georgia campaign spokesperson Adelaide Bullock said. “Black voters are the key to winning Georgia. “The Vice President’s advantages with young voters, Black voters, and Latino voters will be important to our multiple pathways to 270 electoral votes,” Dillon wrote in a recent memo.

Harris’ viewership victory amounted to a blow for Trump, who is famously obsessed with television ratings and the size of his crowds. The boost in viewership was also seen at ABC with 4.2 million viewers, and CNN with 3.9 million. Last month’s Republican convention in Milwaukee took place just days after the assassination attempt on Trump. As pressure mounted, Biden ended his campaign the weekend after the Republican convention. The singer had previously given the Harris campaign permission to use her 2016 hit “Freedom,” which played Thursday night as Harris took the stage.

In Japan, convenience stores are celebrated. Millions flock to the stores daily to pick up food, send packages and pay bills. Japan’s largest konbini chain, 7-Eleven, is also its most famous. It is understandable that a rival company wants in on the action. This week, Seven & i Holdings, the Japanese company that operates 7-Eleven, said it had received an unsolicited takeover proposal from Alimentation Couche-Tard, a convenience store giant in Canada.

Donald J. Trump’s political endurance this year has been attributed in part to voters’ faded memories about why they denied him a second term four years ago. The former president is doing his best to remind them. Despite a carefully scripted week of campaign events aimed at counterprogramming the Democratic National Convention, Mr. Trump undercut much of his messaging with a series of off-the-cuff remarks, rants and blunders that threatened to stoke the kind of Republican anxiety he has spent much of the past month trying to tamp down. On Monday in Pennsylvania, he struggled to clarify a previous comment that he believed the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which honors civilians, was “much better” than the Medal of Honor given to military members. On Tuesday in Michigan, he claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris had won the Democratic nomination after a “vicious, violent overthrow of a president" and called Chicago, which hosted the Democratic convention, “a war zone that’s worse than Afghanistan.”

Customers have come to expect when they order something online, it arrives in two days or less. Many logistics companies have warned about shipping delays due to extreme weather. Freight solutions company Breakthrough, which focuses on sustainable transportation, conducted a survey of 500 shippers and carriers this year that revealed extreme weather was cited as the top transportation challenge. And rather than rely on large warehouses, it uses its stores as hubs, which helps it change delivery fulfillment quickly. In addition to closing warehouses in cases of extreme weather, Amazon is using algorithms to plan delivery worker routes.

For years, I didn't enjoy eating at fine dining establishments. Here are three tips from Lewis and chefs in New York City and Washington D.C. for how to best enjoy your time at a fine dining restaurant. But many fine dining establishments offer pre-fixe meals with a set cost that isn't always available ahead of time or rotating menus, so it's not clear what will actually be served that night. "A lot of fine dining establishments may not be transparent about price on their website," Lewis says. You'll probably enjoy your meal more if you don't feel blindsided by a dish or its price.

They still wear suffragist-white outfits and cheer on the prospect of “Madam President.”But eight years after Hillary Clinton became the first woman to lead a major party’s presidential ticket, Democrats are sending American women a more sober and urgent message even as they try to elect another barrier-breaking candidate. Republican policies, they argue, have had disastrous and once-unthinkable consequences for the health and autonomy of women and their families since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. A second term for former President Donald J. Trump, they warn, would be even more dangerous. “Simply put,” Vice President Kamala Harris said this week from the stage of her party’s convention, “they are out of their minds.”

In some ways, this presidential election has become a referendum on gender roles — and the generation with the biggest difference in opinion between male and female voters is Generation Z. On one side are young women, who as a group are very liberal, and who have been politically galvanized by gender bombshells like #MeToo, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris. On the other are young men, some of whom feel that rapidly changing gender roles have left them behind socially and economically, and see former President Donald J. Trump as a champion of traditional manhood.

If you're afraid of public speaking, thinking about the RMS Titanic may not exactly put your mind at ease. But keeping the famous maritime disaster in mind is exactly what Vice President Kamala Harris advised when a young supporter asked her secret to great public speaking back in 2019. Rather, she says, imagine you're on the Titanic and you're the only one who knows the ship is about to sink. No, because the thing that's most important is that everyone knows what you know, because they need to know what you know," Harris says. "So when you give your speech, you know something that you have to share with people, that they need to know."

Read previewVice President Kamala Harris' proposal to combat grocery inflation hasn't elicited a range of opinions from economists, and many have turned to history to dispute her idea. Last week, the Democratic presidential nominee unveiled early details of her economic platform, which included a pledge to ban grocery price gouging. In a study from May, price gouging was the second leading perceived cause of inflation among surveyed consumers. AdvertisementWhether gouging deserves the blame for inflation, some have also criticized Harris' plan as an ineffective government overreach. Pundits have alluded to the price controls under President Richard Nixon.

The “care economy” — a broad set of policies aimed at helping parents and other caregivers — was the great unfinished work of President Biden’s domestic agenda. Vice President Kamala Harris has made it a central aspect of her campaign to succeed him. Ms. Harris, the Democratic nominee, has spoken frequently on the campaign trail about making it more affordable to raise children. She also laid out policies that aim to reduce housing costs, such as providing up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance to first-time home buyers. In her speech accepting the Democratic nomination on Thursday, Ms. Harris said she would not let conservatives end programs like Head Start that “provide preschool and child care for our children.”

There’s no defining issue like tax cuts in 2000 or health care in 2008 or trade in 2016. Democrats are focused on convincing voters that Donald Trump poses an existential threat to the American way of life, and vice versa. But policy remains the purpose of politics, and the choice of a president is also the choice of a housing policy. Kamala Harris has a plan to address the nation’s housing crisis. Donald Trump (kind of) has one, too.

WASHINGTON — The Harris campaign has tapped Yohannes Abraham for a top role in the presidential transition team, according to a source familiar with the planning. Covington and Burling LLP, the law firm where former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder works, will help the transition team get set up. Abraham's appointment comes as the General Services Administration prepares to engage the Harris and Trump campaigns in the presidential transition process. Federal law related to presidential transitions stipulates Sept. 1 as the deadline for GSA to enter into formal agreements with presidential transition teams. The closing night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday drew about 26.2 million TV viewers, narrowly outpacing the Republican National Convention's final night, according to data from the media measurement company Nielsen. The convention's final night aired across 15 television networks and drew about 820,000 more viewers than the estimated 25.4 million people who watched the final night of the Republican event, Nielsen reported. The first night of the Republican convention drew an estimated 18.13 million viewers, compared to around 20 million viewers on the DNC's opening night, according to Nielsen. The DNC's closing night exceeded viewership for the convention’s final night four years ago, when 24.6 million viewers tuned in across cable and TV for President Joe Biden’s speech.
