These are the cruise ships with the best and worst sanitation report cards in 2023 so far. There's nothing like a stomach virus to ruin your vacation, as hundreds of cruise ship passengers have unfortunately learned this year. "People often associate cruise ships with acute gastrointestinal illnesses such as norovirus, but acute gastrointestinal illness is relatively infrequent on cruise ships," the CDC explains on its website. In the past 10 years, only three other cruise ships have received sanitation scores below 70, CDC records show. These are the cruise ships with the highest and lowest sanitation scores so far this year:The 15 cruise ships with perfect scores of 100The majority of cruise ships have received CDC sanitation scores in the high nineties this year.

MOSCOW, July 8 (Reuters) - Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has inspected troops and overseen training of newly formed units made up of contracted servicemen, his ministry said on Saturday. The ministry released video footage on its Telegram channel showing Shoigu in khaki military fatigues inspecting soldiers at a shooting range, in his first public appearance with troops since last month's aborted mutiny by the Wagner mercenary group. The ministry did not say when the video was filmed or when the inspection took place. Shoigu said on Monday that the mutiny did not affect Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine. "The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation personally checked the training of contract servicemen in combat operations in various conditions, including urban combat," the defence ministry said on Saturday.

Sometimes shopping used can require even more research and preparation than shopping for a new car. Used car prices have been notoriously volatile since the pandemic and squeezes on inventory have allowed sellers of used cars to jack up prices based on urgent needs. While this option can be great for new car shopping if you're on a budget, used car leases can be dangerous. Even when buying a used car, warranties are an important part of used car shopping. If repair costs are a concern for you, consider purchasing an extended warranty on your used car.

BEIJING, July 7 (Reuters) - China's President Xi Jinping, on an inspection tour of a major industrial province, renewed his call for greater innovation and technological self-reliance, as the United States intensifies curbs on Chinese access to advanced technologies. "With the rapid development of information technology and the emergence of disruptive technologies at any time, it is necessary to maintain a solid footing on the path of innovation and contribute to the realisation of high-level self-reliance in technology," Xi said. The United States is also considering restricting flow of its investments and know-how into Chinese companies working on advanced semiconductors, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Yellen's trip to China comes weeks after a visit by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who agreed with Xi that the mutual rivalry should not veer into conflict. This special faith-based education is profoundly important to Hamilton's strictly Orthodox Haredi Jewish community, which numbers 80,000 in Britain. All children in Britain from the age of five must be in full-time education. "Every child has the right to a safe and suitable education," said a spokesperson for the Department of Education. Underlying the tensions at play between the community and secular state, the government's educational standards office Ofsted, which inspects schools, said in 2021 the school's secular curriculum was too narrow. "Hear our pain and our deep request to leave us alone to allow us to keep our identity," said Rabbi Herschel Gluck, a Haredi community leader.

Romanian port operators shipped 8.6 million tonnes last year, and 6.3 million tonnes in the first five months of 2023, the Constanta Port authority told Reuters. The port handled 12.17 million tonnes of grains overall in the first five months, a 21% jump on the year. "There are premises that Constanta Port will see a new traffic record," the authority said. As a result, the port could be overwhelmed, even if Black Sea grain initiative is extended, according to Cezar Gheorghe of Romanian grain market consultancy AGRIColumn. BEIJING, July 6 (Reuters) - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday urged the military to deepen war and combat planning to increase the chances of victory in actual combat, Xinhua news agency said, renewing his call to troops to safeguard China's sovereignty and territory. The Eastern Theater Command, headquartered in Jiangsu province, is responsible for the security of eastern China, including the East China Sea and the Taiwan Strait. In 2005, it passed a law giving Beijing the legal basis for military action against Taiwan if it secedes or seems about to. "We must persist in thinking and handling military issues from a political perspective, dare to fight, be good at fighting, and resolutely defend our national sovereignty, security, and development interests," Xi told the Eastern Theater Command. In April, Xi inspected the Guangdong-headquartered Southern Theater Command, whose sphere of responsibility includes the South China Sea, much of which is claimed by Beijing.

HANOI, July 6 (Reuters) - Vietnam has launched an inspection into K-pop group Blackpink's tour organiser's website, ahead of its concert in Hanoi, over criticism from fans that it shows a map of the South China Sea with disputed boundaries. Chinese organiser iME Entertainment and South Korean agency YG Entertainment (122870.KQ), which manages Blackpink, had no immediate comment. The organiser's website was inaccessible on Thursday but a cached version seen by Reuters and last updated on July 4, shows a vague nine-dash line that encompasses nearly the whole South China Sea. Vietnam and China have long had overlapping territorial claims to a potentially energy-rich stretch in the waterway. The culture ministry's move followed complaints by Vietnamese internet users who noticed the nine-dash line on the organiser's website.

An ex-OceanGate worker reportedly raised at least nine Titan safety concerns with CEO Stockton Rush. They included fears the carbon-fiber hull could come apart with repeated dives, per The New Yorker. Experts believe the vessel's carbon-fiber hull may have failed first when the submersible imploded and the five people on board, including Rush, died. He also said in a lawsuit that he reported in 2018 that the submersible's safety could be compromised by poor "quality control and safety" protocols that "paying passengers would not be aware" of. Rush had defended the safety of the submersible and repeatedly criticized what he saw as overly safety regulations blocking innovation.

Russia's claims of a small battlefield victory have drawn criticism from military bloggers. The milbloggers won't celebrate with Moscow, causing the defense ministry to clash with the writers. Russian military bloggers, or milbloggers, have disputed some of the defense ministry's claims, according to a Sunday assessment by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a Washington-based think tank. The milbloggers, said Ukrainian forces had managed to establish positions and that fighting was ongoing. Ukrainian forces, meanwhile, continue to make use of their huge inventory of heavy Western armor — including advanced tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from the US and its NATO allies — to liberate territory in eastern and southern Ukraine.

HANOI, June 30 (Reuters) - Vietnam has told cross-border social platforms to use artificial intelligence (AI) models that can detect and remove "toxic" content automatically, the latest requirement in its stringent regime for social media firms, state media reported on Friday. Vietnam has repeatedly asked companies like Meta's Facebook (META.O), Google's YouTube (GOOGL.O) and TikTok to coordinate with authorities to stamp out content deemed "toxic", such as offensive, false and anti-state content. YouTube removed 6,101 videos while TikTok took down 415 links, the info ministry said in a statement. Vietnam in recent years has issued several regulations together with a cybersecurity law that target foreign social media platforms in a bid to battle disinformation in news and force foreign tech firms to establish representative offices in Vietnam and store data in the country. VTV reported the info ministry saying at Friday's event that U.S streaming giant Netflix (NFLX.O) had submitted documents needed to open a local office in Vietnam.

June 29 (Reuters) - BioXcel Therapeutics (BTAI.O) flagged issues related to the recording of safety data at one of the sites for late-stage trial of its Alzheimer's drug, sending its shares plunging more than 67% in premarket trading on Thursday. The issue highlighted by the company overshadowed results of the drug's trial, which was also reported on Thursday. BioXcel said it plans to submit an application to expand the use of the drug in the second half of this year. The drug is already approved by the FDA for treating agitation associated with schizophrenia or bipolar I or II disorder in adults.

A view of the Regeneron Pharmaceuticals headquarters in Tarrytown, New York. Shares of Regeneron fell nearly 9% Tuesday after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration declined to approve a higher-dose version of the company's blockbuster eye disease treatment. Regeneron said the rejection was "solely due to an ongoing review of inspection findings at a third-party filler." That suggests the drug could potentially win approval down the road. But a delay won't help the company fight off threats to its Eylea drug franchise, which is facing competition from Roche Holdings ' eye drug, Vabysmo.

The Food and Drug Administration cited an ongoing review of inspection findings at a third-party filler of the higher dose for the decision. Eylea, which recorded $9.65 billion in global sales last year, has been hit since Roche's (ROG.S) rival treatment Vabysmo was approved last year for wet AMD. Two late-stage trials had shown Eylea was as effective as the lower dose version when given at 8 milligrams at longer intervals without any additional safety issues. The two trials included treatment of patients with wet AMD and diabetic macular edema (DME). An estimated 1.1 million people in the U.S. have wet AMD, while 1.2 million are estimated to have DME, according to Regeneron.
