The ultra-rich can afford nearly anything, but that doesn't guarantee access, especially for sold-out games or limited-edition luxury items. Many clients are willing to pay top dollar for coveted Taylor Swift tickets but can't find them, and they have asked their advisors for help tracking them down. Many financial institutions prefer white-labeling, repackaging the services with the banks' branding, Gaby Stanley of Ten Lifestyle Group told Insider. The UK-based concierge clients include Coutts, HSBC, and Merrill Lynch. Private-bank advisors help each other out, according to Yates, who has hooked up out-of-state advisors' clients with Miami Heat tickets when they visit Florida.

Caesars paid around $15 million in ransom to regain access to its systems from the hackers, according to reporting by the Wall Street Journal. Some have been collecting evidence leading to the hackers' identities and are assisting law enforcement, according to the five insiders. The sources say that, following the September casino hacks, the FBI's investigation took on new urgency. Mandia didn't respond directly when asked whether Scattered Spider's identities were known to law enforcement. But he did say that there was no excuse for not arresting hackers who operated from the West.

Stocks rallied hard on Tuesday after new inflation data signaled a possible end to the Federal Reserve's rate-hiking campaign. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped nearly 500 points after the closely watched consumer price index (CPI) reading for October came in flat, softer than economists' estimate of 0.1% growth month over month. Wall Street took the news as a sign that inflation was coming down enough for the central bank to stop raising interest rates. Barring a surprise rebound in inflation, rates seem to have peaked and the "soft landing" for the economy is still in play. We like to buy stocks when the market is oversold, and sell stocks when there is too much buying.

CNN —Donald Trump is promising a second presidency that would be an aberration in American history. And Trump’s ambitions should be taken seriously because one year from the election, President Joe Biden’s reelection hopes are far from secure. He dehumanizes his political enemies, has discredited the legal, political and electoral system, has demonized the press and has targeted vulnerable members of society, minorities and immigrants, as scapegoats. With questionable historic comparisons, Trump’s critics only fuel his bid to provoke the outrage that is essential to his political appeal. Nikki Haley have only criticized Trump obliquely, understanding there’s no market in the modern Republican Party for confronting Trump’s lawlessness.

“President Biden this coming week will be doing a lot more than just meeting with President Xi,” White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters in Washington on Monday. White House officials say they are cognizant that fellow APEC nations want to see better dialogue between the U.S. and China because it reduces the risk of regional conflict. Biden on Monday welcomed Indonesian President Joko Widodo, a fellow APEC leader, to the White House for talks before both travel to San Francisco. Israel's retaliatory operations in Gaza have killed more than 11,000, sparking outrage from a slew of world leaders. The stopgap measure excludes the roughly $106 billion funding requested by Biden for Israel, Ukraine and the U.S. border with Mexico.

But the event, yet to be formally announced by hosts U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC) and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR), also presents uneasy optics. The USCBC and NCUSCR both declined to comment on the planned dinner. Xi has overseen a crackdown on U.S. consultancy and due-diligence firms, a further blow to investor confidence. Jeff Moon, a former U.S. trade official turned business adviser, said China's goal would be to soften Xi's image and attract investment, but that the dinner was unlikely to "move any needles." Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., September 26, 2023. It's the last of the three major rating agencies to maintain a top rating for the U.S. Treasury as Fitch lowered its rating in August and S&P removed its AAA in 2011. On one level, there's some relief the AAA rating was maintained despite the darker outlook. And that would at least keep the Federal Reserve at bay despite its warnings last week that another rate hike was still on the table. Line chart with data from LSEG Eikon show the U.S. consumer price index inflation, core CPI inflation and federal funds target rate from Jan. 2019 to Sep. 2023.

But slipping into habits like these can leave one partner feeling as if they are carrying the bulk of the mental load, he said. The father and content creator based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has been sharing his experiences trying to divide the mental load — those tasks that take planning, preparation and keeping track to maintain the family — more equally with his wife. Men are starting to hold themselves accountable, and like Watson, going online to teach other men to take on more of the mental load. So many of them say, ‘This is exactly why I divorced my husband,’” referring to the inequality of the mental load one partner can experience in keeping a relationship or family going. “If mental load is universally understood, accepted and appreciated, I think we will live in a very different world,” Watson said.

Learning and development programs (L&D) are rising in popularity. But employees and employers aren't seeing eye-to-eye about their value, and many workers don't seem happy about it. In contrast, 51% of the executives surveyed said their companies' existing L&D programs feel like a "waste of time." More than half of C-suite executives (65%) said that their employees are "very satisfied" with their company's L&D programs. Executives should give employees ample time in their working schedule to take L&D courses, instead of asking them to sacrifice their evenings or weekends, Morgan says.

Moody's changed the U.S. credit outlook to negative from stable on Friday, citing larger fiscal deficits and a decline in debt affordability. Moody's typically "resolves" an outlook, meaning in case of a negative outlook it either brings it back to stable or goes ahead with a rating downgrade, within 18 to 24 months, he said. But the process may take longer and will depend on fiscal policy measures that will be taken. Moody's lower outlook comes after a bond selloff that has pushed long-term Treasury debt yields to levels not seen since 2007 in recent weeks. An environment of higher interest rates will likely result in higher interest payments and higher deficits, said Foster.

London CNN —Britain’s High Court ruled Friday that the Duke of Sussex’s court case against the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper over alleged unlawful information gathering can continue. In the High Court ruling, Justice Nicklin said ANL failed to deliver a “knockout blow” to any of the claims brought by the claimants. “We intend to uncover the truth at trial and hold those responsible at Associated Newspapers fully accountable,” the statement continued. The statement described the accusations as “lurid claims” and “simply preposterous.”The suit is just one of several that the Duke of Sussex has brought against major UK newspaper publishers, including Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers.

Sergei Savostyanov/Sputnik/ReutersIn recent years, even some countries that have for decades embraced a close partnership with the US have drawn closer to China and its vision. “Is China really trying to promote multipolarity — or does China just want to (become a) substitute (for) US influence over the world?” he asked. Those who don’t socialize with friends or family may see their risk of dying early increase by 39%. Many previous studies have linked loneliness or social isolation with a higher risk of premature death and other health outcomes. But few, if any, have looked into how these associations depend on the combined impact of different types of social interaction, according to a new study published Thursday in the journal BMC Medicine. Participants’ social isolation was gauged by how often they were visited by friends or family, how often they engaged in weekly group activities, and whether they lived alone. It’s also possible that any of these factors could lead to loneliness or social isolation rather than result from them, according to the study.
