PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Jesse Eisenberg had not seen “Succession” when he was writing his new film “A Real Pain.” But his sister Hallie Eisenberg knew from years of watching Roman Roy that Kieran Culkin would be perfect. Eisenberg had wanted to play the spontaneous one, which was similar to a character he'd played on stage in “The Spoils” in England. They’d met previously through their mutual friend Emma Stone, who also produced “A Real Pain,” but he really didn’t know him well. His hope is that “A Real Pain” speaks to a cross-cultural, universal experience — though he’s also worried that sounds too much like a commercial. Under its policies, OpenAI said in a blog post, users may not create chatbots posing as political candidates or government agencies and officials, such as the secretaries of state who administer US elections. But even social media firms that are much bigger than OpenAI, and that dedicate massive teams to election integrity and content moderation, have often shown that they struggle to enforce their own rules. OpenAI is likely to be no different — and a lack of federal regulation is forcing the public to simply take the companies at their word. Meta said last year it would bar political campaigns from using generative AI tools in their advertising and require politicians to disclose the use of any AI in their ads. In Congress, some lawmakers have proposed a national ban on the deceptive use of AI in all political campaigns, but that legislation has not advanced.

New York CNN —The US Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a case in which Starbucks was ordered to re-hire pro-union workers that the coffee company had previously fired. Starbucks appealed, and on Friday, the Supreme Court said it would take up the case. Since then, Starbucks has fought those unionization efforts, often resulting in NLRB and court battles. In that case, the judge said the company displayed “egregious and widespread misconduct” in its dealings with employees involved in unionization efforts. “We are pleased the Supreme Court has decided to consider our request to level the playing field for all US employers,” Starbucks said.
