London CNN —Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles III, has been hospitalized as a precaution after she sustained minor injuries and a concussion in an “incident” at her home, Buckingham Palace has said in a statement. A royal source told CNN that Anne, 73, was walking near horses in her Gatcombe Park estate, in Gloucestershire, western England, when she suffered minor injuries to her head. While the exact cause of these injuries is unconfirmed, Princess Anne’s medical team say that her head injuries are consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs. “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening,” the statement said Monday. The royal source said the princess’s upcoming royal engagements have been postponed on her doctors’ advice.

Hats may follow horses around the world, from the Kentucky Derby to the Dubai World Cup and the Hong Kong Cup, but nothing tops the … well, toppers at Ascot, founded in 1711 by Queen Anne. Perhaps it’s because of “My Fair Lady” and the extraordinary black and white lace hat Cecil Beaton created for Eliza Doolittle when she made her Ascot debut. Or maybe it’s thanks to Queen Elizabeth II, whose twin passions for horses and hats reached their apex at Ascot. “To err on the side of extravagance as opposed to modesty is a joy for everyone,” said the milliner Stephen Jones, who reported that he once made an Ascot hat out of feathers for Jasmine Guinness, the aristo-model, in the shape of a feathered pinwheel about two feet high. “There are so few rules in dressing anymore that to dress up is part of the reason for going to Ascot.

Having an 18-year-old daughter with a doctorate is both "humbling" and "inspiring," says Jimalita Tillman. "I look to her even as inspiration for things I do in my own day to day life," Jimalita tells CNBC Make It. Jimalita, a single parent who started home-schooling her daughter around the age of 7, did a lot to facilitate those accomplishments. She recognized early that her daughter possessed outsized curiosity and a zeal for learning that set her apart from many other children, she says. Paris CNN —French soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé made a dramatic foray into the country’s election campaign this week, but don’t expect the striker to have an influence on the outcome. The far-right National Rally party of anti-immigration leader Marine Le Pen is leading in the polls, and most pundits suspect her populist movement has never come this close to power. Leaders of the French far-right National Rally, Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, attend a rally ahead of the European Parliament elections where the party had huge success earlier this month. In 2006, Marine Le Pen’s father, far-right patriarch Jean-Marie Le Pen, suggested there were too many “players of color” on the national side. But the reality is that China’s fueling the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II,” Stoltenberg said at The Wilson Center. The idea of an anti-US front among Russia, China, North Korea and Iran has long preoccupied foreign policy experts in Washington.
