Her office also declined to say whether she still believes Russia committed genocide in Ukraine, as she said in 2022. At the time, she argued for extensive military aid support, highlighting the Trump administration’s previous providing of Javelin missiles. Now, when asked if she still supports NATO membership for Ukraine, Stefanik’s spokesperson declined to specifically address her current position. She initially championed pro-Ukraine legislation and supported numerous sanctions against Russia along with multiple rounds of military aid for Ukraine. But in April, she voted against a $60 billion Ukraine aid package, citing concerns over the spending and saying it was better to prioritize the crisis at the southern border.

As bitcoin shoots to new heights, some stocks that trade closely with the digital currency could also see their fortunes rise. Against that backdrop, CNBC Pro screened for stocks that have the highest positive correlation with bitcoin over the past 60 days, meaning they could rise in tandem. Fellow crypto miner Riot Platforms was also on the list with an 81% correlation to bitcoin. Lesser-known names that could see a boost on further bitcoin appreciation include crypto miners Bitdeer Technologies and Hut 8 . Bitdeer has a 67% correlation to the digital currency, while Hut 8's correlation coefficient is nearly 0.7.

A Wall Street Journal report Tuesday evening said a bankruptcy filing is expected to happen within weeks, as talks with Frontier Airlines to possibly buy Spirit (SAVE) broke down recently. Because of those discussions, the company said, Spirit is unable able to complete its third-quarter financial report by the prescribed time. While Spirit management tried to move ahead with the Frontier deal, its shareholders rejected the offer and Spirit ultimately agreed to the JetBlue deal instead. It argued such a combination would hurt airline passengers because it would reduce the number of inexpensive airline tickets — putting upward pressure on airfares overall. In January 2024 a federal judge agreed with DOJ’s argument and blocked the JetBlue deal.

New York CNN —A Chipotle shareholder is suing the fast-casual chain over viral social media complaints about skimpy portion sizes. The proposed class-action lawsuit filed Monday claims Chipotle understated customer dissatisfaction regarding its “highly inconsistent” portion sizes in official disclosures. “First, there was never a directive to provide less to our customers,” Niccol said during the earnings call. After that earnings call on October 30, Chipotle stock dipped 7.86%. The proposed class action would make eligible anyone who purchased or sold Chipotle stock from February 8 to October 29, 2024.

Reuters —Europe’s biggest meal delivery firm, Just Eat Takeaway, said on Wednesday it had struck a deal to sell its U.S. unit Grubhub to Wonder for $650 million, sending its shares soaring 20% in early trading. “Just Eat Takeaway is at last putting an end to its disastrous U.S. journey,” Bryan Garnier analyst Clement Genelot said, noting the group had destroyed more than $7 billion in shareholder value there. Grubhub’s enterprise value of $650 million includes $500 million of senior notes and $150 million cash, Wonder said in a statement. Just Eat CEO Jitse Groen had in February said the M&A environment was not easy in the U.S., where fee caps cost the group some $100 million per year. JPMorgan said in a note it had argued for an about $1.2 billion valuation for Grubhub in the past, but the market would view the long-awaited deal as positive even at a lower valuation.

Australia's government has proposed a social media ban for children under the age of 16 which experts have described as a "momentous step," as parents globally call for greater regulation of tech companies. Other platforms have sought to address the harm social media can do to young peoples' mental health, with Meta's Instagram launching "Teen Accounts" in September. Zach Rausch, an NYU Stern School of Business research scientist and lead researcher on No.1 New York Times bestselling book "The Anxious Generation," said Australia's legislation was a "momentous step" and will make Australia a "global leader in protecting kids online." The Australian law would see social media platforms held entirely responsible for preventing access to children. Children who breach the law and their parents will not face any penalties.

But some people still seem surprised to see Trump nominate Pete Hegseth for defense secretary. It's a reminder that while Twitter — and Elon Musk — is influencing Trump, he's also a very, very big TV guy. Here's one clue: Trump has just nominated a Fox News host, Pete Hegseth, to be his secretary of defense. Mr. Musk has also attended at least one national security meeting with Mr. Trump alongside the likes of Stephen Miller, a top aide, and Donald Trump Jr., according to a person briefed on the meeting. New York CNN —Larry Summers has some unsolicited advice for President-elect Donald Trump: Don’t keep your campaign promises — unless you want to send prices skyrocketing once again. “If he carries through on what he said during his campaign, there will be an inflation shock significantly greater than the one the country suffered in 2021,” Summers told Kate Bolduan on CNN News Central on Wednesday. “I hope that he will get the message from this election and adjust his programs so that it’s not inflationary,” Summers told CNN. “In his first term, President Trump instituted tariffs against China that created jobs, spurred investment, and resulted in no inflation,” Karoline Leavitt, a Trump transition spokesperson, said in a statement. Americans’ debt is growing — but so are incomes

CNN —Americans are continuing to pile on debt at record levels — but for many households, those IOUs are completely manageable, according to new data released Wednesday. Balances grew across all major debt categories, with credit cards and auto loans continuing to see the biggest gains. However, by and large, most households have been able to handle that rising debt: Their after-tax income has grown even more, according to the New York Fed. Disposable personal income hit $21.8 trillion in the third quarter, bringing the total debt balance to income ratio to 82%. And, for 18 months running, that pay growth has outpaced inflation, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Wednesday.
